Another, yet another Little Gretchen piece of dollhouse wonderful-ness! You are so incredibly creative! You have shared often how you didn’t have lots of purchased supplies when you were a child when making minis. There is NO question, those realities actually helped develop and nurture your “gotta make do” to “masterpieces” down the road! I found a cute little stove at a thrift store last year. It was without any oven racks. So, I spray painted and use pieces of a plastic strawberry basket. It worked like a dream! I’m so used to using found pieces that I actually lack skills using more typical supplies - including bass word! LOL! You are a creative genius, my friend! Those dolls are going to be celebrating the arrival of their new stove (my family actually had one like it growing up!). No doubt, the will be making some delicious foods with it! Just in time for holiday gatherings and a brand new year of celebrations! Thanks so much! ❤❤ Kathleen

"I make fun miniatures, not fine miniatures." LOL!!! Thank you for the words to live by, Gretchen. 🤣 Early in the video, you talked about how long it took you to make the stove and how the outcome of one decision informed future steps. I love that about the dollhouse hobby. It's like a dimensional free-form puzzle. So much problem solving. And you seem to excel at problem solving. Your stove looks sooooo cute!

I adore these old stoves. My Grandmother had one when I was a child and it was among one of my favorite items at her house. We could always count on it keeping us warm during the cold weather months and heating the water for coffee or cocoa. Having no precise measurements in creating makes items uniquely one of kind because they were made by you. Beautiful work, Gretchen! ❤

Well Gretchen, that drawer handle back board is the ultimate example of WAYKTF items - who knew that it would be so perfect!? The stove is perfect in its own way and I love the expression fun miniatures not fine miniatures as it inspires freedom and creativity with the need for perfection remover and the barriers too. However, your miniatures and all fun AND fine! I’m also please to know no Lego was harmed in the making of this video 😂😂😂x

😍 Woooow..I love it. Just look at that stove! And I love knowing that you don't always have to sketch out a plan to produce a great piece you really love. I know I don't always have a plan..and honestly I only do it when I see the plan come thru in my head, which isnt very often..sometimes I really like not having a plan and just winging it, because I love surpising myself with what I could come up with, when it works out, it's all the better knowing it came off the top of your head. Sometimes, I feel it may be more of a challenge without planning first, but im not really in the habit of doing so. It makes the whole process worth the while and all the better..lol 😊❤

FYI Gretchen, every 2.5 centimetres is one inch. So every 5 cm = two inches. It’s really that simple. Ara, from Bentley House Mini’s used paper hinges for some of her doors that open and close. I know that she has videos on how to put a stove together that she sells in her shop and she’s reasonably priced too. You should check her out. Your stove turned out fantastic. You did an excellent job.🤗🇨🇦. Happy 3rd anniversary.🎉

Thank you so much Gretchen! You have absolutely helped me solve a couple of issues I had with my own stove. Sometimes I just over think things and then cannot see the wood for the trees. So my stove has sat on the side for weeks, but now, Thanks to you, I can finish it off! Wahoo... I love your channel with all the projects you do, so inspirational. I also adore your stories of life with the dolls, they almost feel like members of my own family when I hear news of what has been going on with them!! So adorable. Oh, while I am thinking of it I would like to share a tip another miniaturist gave on their KZbin channel. Sadly I cannot remember who it was but it could have been Julie Warren?? Anyway, when cutting circles in wood, if you use an awl to make holes just inside your circle all the way around it, then turn your piece over (if you are able to but not absolutely necessary if you can't) and do it again on that side, you end up with a perforated circle that you can finish cutting with a knife. So much quicker and easier to cut through and less wear on your blades and for me on my patience! You will need to sand inside the hole but then it's finished. Thank you for always bringing a smile to my day! 💖

I love how your stove turned out! 🥰 Your method may have been... unconventional, 😉 but it worked! Your methods actually make me feel so much better about my own approach- I'll eyeball it, make adjustments, and figure it out as I go. 😊 I was very impressed by your ability to use a compass to draw a circle- I have ALWAYS ended up with a lopsided shape as the pencil moves away from or toward the center. 100% failure rate. 🤦♀ Oh, I saw the video of your boots being unboxed. I was wrong about which friend, but right about the joy they brought the recipient.🙂

watching you create, makes me feel even more better about my technique, I do break out my ruler and I do try to measure, but somehow it doesn’t work for me so I just do freestyle so I totally get it what you’re doing there’s no breaking rules because you’re just having fun so how could it be breaking rules when you’re not even in a competition 😅😅in miniature, you do what works for you as long as you like it that’s all that matters! 😂 like you said you’re not in a doll house competition, like you say , some of us do fun miniature not fine miniatures with every totally perfection and they’re worth every penny that they sell them for because even doing fun manager it takes work. Your hand wants to shake 😅😅 you drop your little small stuff, even though you are using tweezers or even just your hand 😅😅😅and even though it’s fun there are times we do have to walk away, from the project to regroup and relax our mine so we can start up again maybe the same day maybe the next day because we’re not in competition not even ourselves 😅😅we’re just enjoying the process, so don’t feel bad, I’m not good at measuring sometime, and I don’t have a blueprint most of the time sometime I do try but most of the time I don’t ! I do all right and there’s times when I don’t, I just put everything down and restart and just bring up my own ideas as long as it works for me that’s all that matters.! so I get what you’re saying it applies to me too and I’m sure it applies to many other other people , sometimes I wish I was one of those people who knew how to measure and practice and I look up measurements eventually I will get there cause I’m studying it but for now I’m satisfied because I like just doing my own way to see how creative I can get without measuring, so I get you! So to me and my own house by myself, not under the microscope of any type of judges, I can just do me enjoy the miniature at my pace with no pressure! you have a blessed day. I enjoyed watching your your beautiful antique stove came out beautifully! You are an inspiration to us all and we appreciate you and I appreciate your transparency and not always trying to be perfect. When you make a mistake you show it and that helps us so we know how to fix our mistakes, enjoy your realism your honesty, you keep it real when they do projects sometime on other videos and I’m not knocking them because it works for some people, but when they’re perfect and show mistakes, I’m trying to figure out if I make a mistake how do I fix it and I want to know what materials they use and some people don’t show the material, even put it in the comment section materials, Whatever park they use where did they get it from? If if it’s still exist, that’s why I appreciate your channel a lot of help! So thank you, stay the way you are the only time you change it’s just when you’re just protecting your skill other than that continue to stay genuine as you are it goes along way, most people want to see the real stuff and keep it 100 and I want you to know once again we appreciate you! Have a blessed day and thank you for your time. Happy Anniversary !!! hooray 🥰👩🏾🦲😘

Hi, I was just wondering what knife you use to cut the balsa wood? I use the same wood but my knife takes multiple trys before it cuts and its never as clean and hurts my hands. I have some disability in my hands, so maybe I'm not pressing hard enough but I'm wondering if my knife is low quality. I'm thinking of investing in a rotery cutter in the future, have you (or anyone reading this) used a rotery cutter for these kind of projects?
@valeriebrincheck6034Ай бұрын
A rotary cutter is really only to be used for fabric. No matter what kind of craft knife you use you need to change the blade pretty often. Working with a dull blade will make cutting anything harder and have you using more pressure and making more passes. I too have problems with my hands so I can’t relate to your challenges. ( I have no cartilage in either bottom joint of my thumbs and both middle fingers have tendon strictures.) Some other suggestions I would make are to get some small clamps and a metal ruler if you don’t have them already. I find it easier to clamp one side of the metal ruler in front of me on a cutting mat and hold the top part down in my none dominate hand. I can then slice the wood or whatever without the ruler moving or having to hold it so hard. I also do this while using a small craft saw if it’s a thicker piece of wood. You can simply use the tip of the saw to score a line several times next to ruler and then continue cutting with the whole saw blade once it gets deep enough to hold the blade. I hope all that makes sense and helps you out.
@JoF999Ай бұрын
@valeriebrincheck6034 Oh, thank you sooo much! That all makes perfect sense, I never thought of clamping the ruler down. That is part of the problem holding the wood and ruler with my hand (sounds like you have similar issues as me with your hands) I have small clamps but too small, so I'll invest in some larger ones that I can clamp to my desk. I appreciate you taking the time to reply in such detail.The rotery tool I meant is the power tool ones, but I'll try the clamps first, as they are quite expensive and don't really want to be using power tools for 2 inch pieces of balsa lol Thanks again 👍
@valeriebrincheck6034Ай бұрын
@@JoF999 Ah yes ……..I have a rotary tool (don’t know why my brain automatically thought of sewing) but I don’t cut wood with it because it’s hard to control and get a straight line. I got some nice smaller clamps from Lowe’s that close by just squeezing the handles together.
