I love the idea that Tigerstar and Goldenflower’s “relationship” was purely a business arrangement, and I especially love the idea of Goldenflower being just as pragmatic about it. She was always shown to be just as devoted warrior as Tigerstar - the idea that she chose him to be the father of her kits, just as much as he chose her, because of the traits they had rather than any actual feelings, is fantastic, and I resent the generally held belief that she pined after him while he didn’t care. She’s never shown to do that!

I still really think it’s a shame that Swiftpaw was listed as Bramblestar and Tawnypelt’s half-sibling. Having him specifically also be Tigerstar’s son would’ve been so good! Tigerstar is shown to at the very least feel _some_ care towards his children, so for his own child to be an unexpected casualty by the dogs could’ve been really interesting. And it could’ve also been what motivated Goldenflower to tell Bramblekit and Tawnykit who Tigerstar really was. Seeing as how Tigerstar was willing to sacrifice his own child for his ambition, she could come to the conclusion that Bramblekit and Tawnykit would not be spared from anything Tigerstar does, so she then tells them for their own safety. It also could’ve addressed Goldenflower’s perspective of Tigerstar. Because although it’s never officially addressed, Goldenflower’s unwillingness to tell her children about Tigerstar reads to me as her still hanging on to her perception of him. Despite everything he’s done, it’s hard for her to let go of her vision of the cat she fell in love with. But Swiftpaw’s death would break the illusion, forcing her to face the reality of who Tigerstar really is.

Actually our dog at the time (lab chow mix) got very protective of her and the bbs, and was doing a lot of the cleanup and kitten herding in the early days- something else I can imagine the cats in these books losing their minds over lol And yes, we got her spayed! Last thing we needed was another dozen kittens!

It's pretty obvious the Erin's never really cared for goldenflower. She's got three children, none of which she really interacts with, named after or even bear resemblance to her(even though her sons technically should). So is the plight of being forgotten by the Erin's, even if you should be a semi important character, if they don't deem you as such, good luck on being even remotely relevant.

I think a good spiritual sequel to this mini talk could be one about her son Swiftpaw, like her, a lot of his popularity is based on ideas people have about him rather than what he does in the books. In the books the only significant things he does is blab about Brokentail being ThunderClan prisoner at the gathering, and then die. I’m not a Swiftpaw hater by any means at all I do like his story, but his popularity is wildly disproportionate compared to what we actually have in the books imo. I also find it interesting how people often portray him as childlike at the time of his death while he was actually a full grown man. Splashtail as of Wind is younger than him. Thunderstar was younger than him when he formed ThunderClan.

Another small scene in TNP that I liked between Brambleclaw & Goldenflower was when he was worried she was going to stay behind with all of the other elders, but she reassured him she was coming as well. Granted I might've just liked it as a kid bc the whole "leaving the elders behind" thing was HORRIFYING and I was glad at least one made it out of there XD EDIT: Apparently I imagined this scene, I can't seem to find it again. If anyone else remembers it, please let me know!

Ok this may be a controversial take, but I wanna see a video on Tigerheart, or well, Tigerstar II He's probably the leader with the most personality currently, and is actually INTERESTING. I feel in a way he's a successor to both the previous Tigerstar and Firestar's legacies. He took over RiverClan and has done some bad things, but he has strong morals and sticks to them. He was the only leader to directly oppose the Impostor and not just go along with everything. He offered sanctuary to all those exiled and told his clanmates to treat them like their own. I think it's also interesting how ShadowClan overall has become more accepting of outside cats (maybe due to the influence of the time with the Guardian cats?) While other clans seem to get less accepting. He's also one of the few toms in the series to be shown to be ACTIVELY involved with his kits lives! He's actually there for them! He's also interesting in the way that it seems like he values his family more than his clan, which you don't see much of in warriors, especially a character whose a leader Idk, he's unironically one of my favorite characters and I love him.

I saw the thumbnail and my first thought was "it's Mom!" And then I saw the video description. Moon understands. Goldenflower is fun because she is definitively three things: (1) a cool lady, (2) a good mom, and (3) jaded with a chip on her shoulder that she never talks about, and that's...basically all we know about her inner world. She's a background character who does almost nothing but is a good, strong person who has been through so much stress, and therefore has loads of potential for headcanons.

5:10 There are a few weird repeating/inconsistent scenes in the first series (and possibly the others, though I don't remember very well). Another I remember is the reveal that Brokenstar is Yellowfang's son - she confesses it to Fireheart (I think) in Fire & Ice, but then later when he spies on Yellowfang poisoning him it's treated like a reveal again? When Yellowfang dies it seems like it's implied she hadn't personally told Fireheart the truth even though she had. It's also possible that those scenes were written with the thought process that some kids might've picked up the book without reading earlier ones in the series, hence the repetitiveness (trying to catch newer readers up)

hi! i was wondering if you could talk about sandgorse. i feel like people only ever bring him up in pair with paledove -- who was unfairly treated by the fandom for being a mother character and having postpartum -- as a sort of example as to how "tallpaw's parents weren't really that bad." i think that paledove was not a perfect mother and a complicated character (and honestly is more indicative of how divided windclan is at the time, because the po3 don't really have a problem with being weaned/watched over by ferncloud/brambleclaw/any other adult cat while still calling squirrelflight mom), but sandgorse imo was far worse. he repeatedly blamed his son for problems unrelated to him, and was either completely emotionally illiterate or just ignored the fact that his son wanted to do something different from tunneling. i've honeslty never really understood the angle that sandgorse was "just looking for tallpaw to continue the family tradition" because regardless of his intentions, he was treating tallpaw badly. him talking tallpaw up being seen as being "a good parent" puts a bad taste in my mouth because you can simultaneously hold your child in high esteem and mistreat them because you never listen to them.

I hate seeing the authors saying stuff like "Sasha was Tigerstar's one true love" like okay but in the graphic novel with them, Tigerstar's last words to Sasha while he was alive was "you're nothing" and that's so gross that the authors woukd call that "love". I personally headcanon that Tigerstar and Sasha were a fling.

I do think he had a thing for her at the beginning, but in the end it wasn’t that serious and he left her easily (probably because she refused to join his clan, when she wouldn’t he stopped caring about her snd she truly did become nothing to him..nothing more than a fleeting moment of passion)

I love goldenflower she has been one of my favorite cats for a long time I am also very disappointed she doesn't get a lot of development and time even though she was the mate of a very prominent bad guy and is generally the cause for most of the plot to happen in arc 1 and 2 because the second arc follows her kits
