Have one of these from HF and love it. Mine comes with a feeding system for the Master Cylinder. I clean and wipe it down every time I use it. The only problem I've had is with the black rubber head. It either doesn't fit right or blocks my wrench so I never use it and just put the hose directly over the fitting. Works fine that way.

I have one of these and it works great. I have used it on at least 20 brake jobs. It does use a lot of air so you need a decent compressor. Mine has a 30 gallon tank. You need to run this bleeder at a constant 90 psi. Sometimes you will see air bubbles coming through the line because it is not sealing 100% around the bleeder screw. But if you pull enough fluid through you will be fine. Great tool.

I have 2 of these at my shop. They work well. The only problem that I've experienced is a blockage in the metal connector on the cap. just use a small pick to clear it. It does come with a refill container and some attachments to fit different master cylinders and works pretty well. Good video, thank you.

Bought one of these this weekend to purge contaminated brake fluid from a Toyota Sequoia and it worked flawlessly. Should have bought one of these years ago. This thing uses a LOT of air (it kept my 30 gallon comp busy) so if you have a small compressor, you'll be disappointed. You should be careful with the exhaust from the bleeder. A carburator works by spraying small areated gas into the cylindar. So More then likely you are spraying small bubbles of break fluid everywhere, which is acidic. I would but something over the exhuast to at least slow it down. Maybe a rag or even a hose.

im a pressure bleeder guy, i never liked vacuum bleeders for bleeding brakes, half the time it just sucks air around the threads of the bleeder screw, the other half the time it will create a vacuum in the line so if the hose comes off then air gets pulled in the line. Plus you have to go up and down keeping the master full, and the refillers they make never work right. With a pressure bleeder i can attach it to the master , open all 4 bleeders if i want and walk away for 5 mins and come back when the fluid is clear, and 99% of the time theres no air in the system left. its also great for bleeding new master cylinders and hydraulic control units. The worst thing in the world is getting all done with a brake job and then having to pull it back in to your bay and bleed it all over again because the pedal is squishy.

Cool tool. I'd be worried about running the master cylinder dry too easily with the power bleeder. I like hand vacuum pumps for brake bleeding for better flow and vacuum pressure control, although the reservoirs do tend to be a little small, IMO. The power bleeder, with its huge reservoir, would be awesome at sucking tranny fluid out of the transmission through the filler neck before dropping the pan to reduce the chance of spilling fluid everywhere. Or to remove excess engine or tranny fluid if you mistakenly add too much.

FordTechMakuloco I don't know if you did not get a complete kit but mine came with a bottle that is about 500 cc where you put brake fluid, you stick that bottle upside-down into the brake reservoir and open a valve and it gives you plenty of extra brake fluid to bleed with out running back and forward, also because it is high up, you can see if from further away for level. This only works if you have a vertical access to the brake fluid reservoir of course.

Great video. I have this tool and the one question I have is how do you know when the air is outta of the line. The hose never really shows a solid stream of fluid while operating the unit. Old school method of pumping the pedal and unlocking the bleeder would display a solid stream once bleeding was successful!
@FordTechMakuloco9 жыл бұрын
+Cobra Ninety Six With a vacuum bleeder you don't need to worry about bubbles, just suck down a fair amount of fluid into the container and close the bleeder while the bleeder is still sucking.
@mycosys9 жыл бұрын
+Cobra Ninety Six if you really want to see use silicon grease (syl-grease) on the nipple connector (not petroleum as it may damage the unit or the braking system - as the oil did his rubber seal) and that should give you an airtight seal.

Idk if mine has an issue or what. Just used it today. Worked great removing the old fluid from the reservoir. When I hooked it up to the brake bleed, it was sucking with bubbles (like when you use a straw for a drink but your pretty much empty). And no it wasn't that I had air in the line because when I did it the brake pump way, it came out solid. Switched back to the tool, bubbly. Maybe the lid wasn't tight enough? I'll have to try again this weekend.

I've used a Mighty Vac with disappointing results. Now I use a method similar to the gravity fed bottle but I push the brake pedal while bleeding. The air/fluid is expelled but since the hose end is submerged in fluid in the bottle, no air can be sucked back in when the pedal is released. Have you seen the tool that injects brake fluid at the caliper to push the air up to the master cylinder?

I’m bought one of those HF vacuum bleeders the last time I had to replace a caliper on my ‘69 Corvette. Those old 4 piston Corvette brakes are notorious for being hard to bleed, especially the two person method. Using the vacuum bleeder was so easy and clean. The old pressure method still has its adherents, but first you need a special fitting for the oval MC opening, and a way to attach that fitting. The vacuum bleeder is far superior, just remember to keep an eye on the fluid level in the MC.

@mycosys9 жыл бұрын
+ThaHandyman1212 CFM and capacity are more important than PSI for a shop unit, anything under about 4 cfm is basically utterly useless for shop equipment, even then that is pretty light duty. Light duty 'shop' compressors are quite often only about 3cfm so the bottom end ones may not be ideal. Mine is about 2.5HP, 4 1/4CFM and 10 gallons (they call it medium duty DIY, about 3 rungs from the cheapest shop units) and still reasonably limited - stuff like higher end DA sanders and HVLP spray painting are out of its league - I would not recommend anyone go lower. Mine is also a 'direct drive' unit where the electric motor is in the same unit as the pump - better units are 'belt drive' and can run longer without overheating, wear better and if the do have issues you can just replace the motor or pump.

I got the Phoenix reverse bleeder and pumped about a gallon of fluid from the calipers to the master. If I pump the pedal 3-4 times it gets increasingly firmer, though not normal. After I release within a second it pushes to the floor again. The Phoenix unit also functions as a vacuum bleeder so I tried that. Interestingly when I applied vacuum no fluid would come out of the bleeders. I know there was suction because when I removed the bleeder nipple there was plenty of suction. Any thoughts?

@aaronbuck72653 жыл бұрын
Hey Abdul. Cranking is the worse thing you could do!!! Since you were doing oil rail work I can safely guess you have the oil filter cap off to out a new element inside then the cap as the final step.. You should just disconnect the + starter cable wire on the passenger side firewall and with a new oil filter and cap off, touch the cable to battery + to just crank the motor over with a 10" 3/8 extention or whatever depressing the drain back valve. Once the filter housing fills with oil, quickly put the oil cap on then won't be cranking for days! I do it after every oil change and it fires right up everytime without causing unnecessary wear. Good luck brotha

Not so cheap tool if you don't have the proper compressor. I wished they worked with 12v ones that you can carry in the car for emergencies.

Gravity bleeding does not work all the time if air trapped in master or abs system
@FordTechMakuloco Жыл бұрын
Yes that is why we vacuum bleed.

Thanks for this video. I went out and got one of these tools and it works great, but I have a problem I'm hoping you can help with. I have a 2003 Expedition, and regardless of how I bleed the brakes, (2 man, 1 man, vacuum) I get a non-stop stream of air bubbles at both rear calipers. I can flush TONs of fluid through the system, and I always keep the reservoir topped, but I still get bubbles showing up in the bleeding tubing. When I bleed the front calipers, they bleed perfectly. I've checked all of the brake lines and I cannot find any leaks. Have you run across this?

+George B, I'm not a big fan of vacuum bleeders. They can pull a stream of air in past the bleeder screw threads and out through the bleeder. There is often a rubber washer at the base of the bleeder screw that is supposed to prevent this but I have yet to see one that works. This is especially true if you are drawing fluid through a long thin brake line at the rear of the vehicle. Hope this helps.

Either place a small bead of grease around the outside of the threads to block the air or remove the bleeder screw and seal with Teflon tape and replace. Both methods help with air getting pulled past the threads.
