As an ex-educator I 've gotta say that I truly appreciate your plain-language, slow-paced and thoughtful method of dialogue. As a Sienna owner who's aware of the interior space comparisons between our two vehicles I must say that I'm appreciating your level floor, your space under the floor, your non-fabric armrests and other comparative advantages your Dodge has over our Sienna. Beyond that, tho, I'd just like to congratulate you on the thoughtfulness of your build... and your willingness to admit what you'd not take on the next trip. We're heading out in a couple of weeks on "year two" of our Sienna camping, (leaving our Pleasure Way Excel, which we love, behind). At age 77, having started out in a '67 VW camper, the smaller vehicle just "seems better". One note: You don't mention awnings: I built my Sienna awning from two wo' round plastic gutters, hinged with Gorilla Tape, containing a 10ft x 12ft plastic tarp color-coordinated (of course!!) with my van. The tarp has a 2x2 "stretcher" anchoring the tarp into the plastic "clamshell" and another on the farthest edge of the tarp parallel to the van. Two expandable tent posts with two tent chords each guy out the tarp. Running the 10' dimension along the van (with the clamshell anchored to the roof rack) allows 12' of cover out over picnic tables etc, while the 10' dimension covers the sliding doors and the passenger door. It's a wonderful extension of the interior space and it sets up in minutes. Thanks so much for your post.

Very informative, a good video. You are so right about cleaning up the camp sites and picnic places. My Mom was adamant about that. When we stopped, didn't matter if it was a camp, A picnic place, roadside stop, rest area or whatever, my mom had us out cleaning up the area before we set up and then we'd police it again after we had everything packed away. She did this with my brother's boy scout troop, my sister's girl scout troop and my campfire girls troop. She grew up in Montana and her family camped frequently up in the mountains. One of my cousins has all our grandparents photo albums documenting the different camp sites they enjoyed, starting before1920. It's fun to look through. But leaving the place cleaner than when you got there was Rule #1! Thanks for sharing this information.

Great video. Thank you for creating this. We have a hand me down Coleman 2 burner stove that I won't leave home without anymore. We purchased a roto cast, The Chuck Box Camp Kitchen, and it has been a game changer for cooking and eating on trips. If we had had to purchase a stove it would have been one of the butane ones, just for ease of use. Sure the butane is more expensive and you have to plan ahead, but cooking your own food saved you a lot more than the little you would save by having a propane stove. Love your videos, thank you. Safe travels.

I did stopped using that design of stove after a leak (Fire) gave me a fright, but after offering up the gas canistor to a more limited movement (forward and backward, sideways) and cleaning the female ring seal its working perfectly. (Listen for leakage before ignition !) But would still only use on the perimeter of my SUV. (to much plastic inside, mind I have a Kia Sorento - only 36" sub floor to ceiling)

About $1.50 a can if you break down the cost of the 4 pack so not bad. Appatently some also find them way cheap at restaurant suppliers too. Good deal for you by the way.

@@VinceSaluto1 Instead of the levelers, another method may work. While the van is level, you can suspending something (like a heavy pendant) by a piece of cord or fishing line from the ceiling and mark the spot directly below it. That way, when parking in a new spot, lining the pendant up should mean you are level from all angles. It saves you from having to get in close to each level to look for that little bubble! You can spot the pendant's position easily from the driver's seat.

Hair dryer - check out Lady Bugout's new 5 favorite things! There's a product that does just what you are talking about! Has a square or round attachment for the heat/cool vents (not sure about the larger vent for the defroster) that the end of the tube attaches to, so you can move air through the tube to the back of the van! Whether AC or heat! My car's defroster runs via the AC unit, so I could use it to dry my hair if need be! She also has a small vacuum that is tubular and has a super long cord. There's not a big refuse canister, so it may be for small jobs like crumbs. I will watch your other video - I am vascillating between a Transit Connect and a van like yours. Thank you for sharing your tips!

Great video! If you haven’t given the portable toilet I’d like it. Please let me know how to pay the shipping. Thanks!
@VinceSaluto14 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the compliment and comment we looked into shipping the toilet it appears it will cost as much to ship it as it is for someone to buy it I believe it’s gonna have to be pick up for someone in the Midwest near Kansas City

Great video👍👍.🤔 you have inspired me to maybe take a bed frame and see if I can be modified to make the perfect proper height bed in my van. The lights was a genius idea. Just a thought you may want to put lights underneath your vehicle because at night if you were to drop some thing on the ground.Also any critter & snakes was to go underneath your vehicle for heat you can see it.
@VinceSaluto14 жыл бұрын
Thanks that’s a good idea I may have to do lights underneath just just for when you’re sitting

You might wanna ponder on getting yourself for your house and when you go camping an A24 rat trap. I told my dad to buy one before he has issues.They are expensive but as my dad found out when a rodent ate the wires off his oxygen sensor on his full-size pick up truck that cost him $500. He bought a dozen of them😂🤣😂.You can see it in action on KZbin just type in A24 rat trap. With all his traps he is still having issues of them camping underneath his hood on the warm engine eating an orange and leaving the orange husk and rat droppings behind. One of the tenants at the ranch says that these rat traps are awesome because it keeps killing the rats maybe squirrels the carcass is removed by the other rats.

I love the fridge and have one, so I can attest to running it for a weekend on the Jackery. I leave it plugged in while we are home now, as I can keep cold drinks in it without taking up the fridge space! This is important when you have kids, cuz we need to keep lots of milk and they’d frown on it if I took up that space with a 12-pack of anything. The store is great and I did buy another one that accepts both butane and propane, and it has higher BTU, so if we take a long trip, I bring a propane store, but if it’s just a quick trip, I’m using butane.
@VinceSaluto14 жыл бұрын
Thanks for watching and commenting it makes perfect sense to be able to use that extra fridge at home
@VinceSaluto14 жыл бұрын
we liked the butane better it seem to have less fumes when we cook in the van
@PartyUpLive2 жыл бұрын
Hmm, I never thought about using one of these fridges at home. I could use it in the garage that I made into a gym, which would be great for cold drinks in the summer. And just throw it in the van for trips.

Thank you for showing the fuse box..i have a Chrysler T&C which is the same set up.. On that back plug.... I'm gonna check to see where MY fuse sits. And the rope lighting...what runs it? The car battery? And do you use reflectix coverings at night? And I'm truly scared to use my frig. Running my battery down i have the same size frig ..
@VinceSaluto13 жыл бұрын
Thanks for watching and commenting yes the rope lights just run off the car battery. The new LED lights don’t drain a lot of power which is nice yes the fridge will use more power you do have to be careful with it
