I have a Minilab 3 and a Novation Launchkey 61 MK3. What I found interesting is there are some differences between how arpeggiator and chord mode works on both keyboards. On Minilab 3, once you enable chord mode, you can't play multiple keys and expect it to play those chords simultaneously. Instead, only the last pressed key is registered. On Launchkey, it can play multiple chords at the same time. And this extends to arpeggiator: when you play multiple chords, depending on the mode, the arpeggiator may either sort the input notes of all chords (Up/Down) or keep their relative order (As Played).

The keystep features added were cool, but the main reason I bought the minilab was because of the amount of knobs available to you. It's super hard to find a midi controller with the amount of knobs the minilab mk2 had and a reasonable price

Is there a way to use chord mode with a specific scale? Such as locking in a Dmin scale with a chord triad so any key you hit will trigger a chord triad within that Dmin scale? No wrong notes basically?

I’ve got this question too. Eg can I set it in the key of Cmajor and press C to play C major, D to play a Dm chord, E for Em, F & G for major etc I think it doesn’t work like this, just transposes the semitones up and down.

@@dannymolns3573 thanks. I’ve found an app/AUv3 plugin now to do it, plus another to then make it an arpeggio. (ScaleBud 2/ArpBud 2). Direct from a keyboard is simpler though, of course.

when arp and hold is on , there must be a feature to play normal notes , like keystep , when seq is on , you can play the keyboard at the same time , or you can add a feature to dedicate different midi channels for arp and playing keyboard at the same time

What if you use a chord progression with a 7th chord, then a Sus 2 chord, followed by a minor, then major chord? Is it even possible while using the chord mode?

You can use your arpeggiations to control any sounds in any apps. It's all MIDI.

Press record / playthrough and when they play through the USB-C into your DAW it will record the sequence for you :) Note by note so you can edit. That's why you get this as opposed to a cheaper one. Most just record the WAV file you cannot edit later, this one records the actual step data and you can fiddle with it all you like in the DAW.

I am still lost. Sometimes arp works, sometimes not. When i press shift and arp, sometimes drum sound occurs, sometimes not. Official manual is a joke. Upgrade of firmware does not work. Arturia makes great plugins, but hardware products are like a french car - better to avoid it :-)

They're in the software - inside the DAW you can find all the chordlab tools, I prefer it that way since you can layer several arpeggiator sequences on top of each other, whilst you are using arpeggiator on the keyb and the chord machine plug-in in the DAW. Besides most of us know all the chords anyway, I have several books full of them. I don't feel that it's much of a drawback when the rest of the featureset and hardware is the best you will find at £200. Absolute steal, had an MPK MK3 and it was awful, and the M-Oxygen was cheap. This is the one imo!

This is an awful tutorial for showing the chord and arpeggiator - no instructions given just odd background sound that do not correspond to the chords played.

You just press the arpeggiator button which is labelled and in the top corner of the keyboard. I thought that at first but if you compare the intro scene with the first one where she's talking - you can see the button lit up. You can work out from that plus reading the manual - what you have to do to get your arpeggiator is press and hold ARPEGGIATOR button and the HOLD button. Then you can press some keys and it plays endlessly whilst you figure out your encoder game :)
