Hmm best way to make a kick and optimize resources is to use the filter in full resonance as a sine oscillator and make the cutoff modulation with the eg or the one shot lfo. Then you have still 3 oscillator to make other sounds
@BoBeats5 жыл бұрын
not entirely sure how you would do this since you can not bypass the filter entirely for the 3 oscillators. Unless I am missing a setting only the multiengine can bypass the filter. But if you have a cool idea by all means let me know. All tips n tricks welcome.
@ionianechoes5 жыл бұрын
@@BoBeats yes that's true you need to keep the filter open on the steps where you don't have a kick. But doing a kick with the filter generally give very good results anyway. The volca kick is using the ms20 filter for generating the kick for example

Hi, I'm working my way through this step by step to get a better idea of how to craft drum sounds on the XD but when I get to 9:38 I cannot for the life of me figure out how you jumped to this high pitch sound to start crafting a snare. I change from editing to Multi Routing Post VCF and then I change the Oscillator type, as you do, but I still have my low end kick sound coming out and I can't figure out how to change the settings to match yours, and get the high end noise/snare sound. Is there a step missing?! Thanks!

You can play the Digital Multi Engine (what you referred to as the digital VCO) by itself without using VCO 1 & 2 at all. Note that on an init patch, the Multi Engine is turned all the way down in the mixer, you have to turn it up.

Hey Bo! I already got an microKorg XL, but i never liked the menu digging... however, can u store multiple sequenzes and switch between them in the same sound setting? For example having 16 recurring steps for the verse, and then switch to a different pattern for a chorus or bridge part? thank you for your videos, they help me so much building my own first homestudio!
@stephenshumaker84444 жыл бұрын
Sort of. What you would do is create your sound and save it to multiple adjacent slots. Then in each slot you could create a different pattern/sequence. But there's a lag anytime you change presets/patches/patterns, so it wouldn't be great for playing live. For recording parts into a DAW, it is no problem.

@stephenshumaker84444 жыл бұрын
You can connect with just USB and the Minilogue XD will act as a MIDI controller (so you could use it to play soft synths, for example). USB passes MIDI data only, no audio. If you want to record the sounds that the Minilogue makes, you'll need an audio interface.

i did not get the multi routing (pre/post) could u please explain it brief? :O ALSO, i have been wondering is there away to apply say a reverb or a delay only on one osclater not all of them while jamming? thanks
@roberte76064 жыл бұрын
To make the kick sound with oscillator two he turns the cutoff for the filter way down, which cuts all the high frequencies off. Now you want to make a sound with high frequencies (snare) but you can’t pass it through the filter section because those frequencies are cut. By setting the multi to post VFO you bypass the filter section, allowing you to use the multi engine as a snare. I hope that explains it for you. Don’t ask me how he then gets oscillator one to make tones without messing up oscillator two though because that’s where he lost me!

Is it possible to have more than 16 steps for the sequencer, as in are they stackable in some way? I don't understand the reason for this apparent limitation. Thanks for any info, and the great demo
@stephenshumaker84444 жыл бұрын
16 steps is the max, but you can have more than one note per step. For example, try this: Switch to ARP mode. Say you want a song at 120 BPM. You can set the tempo at half rate (60 BPM), then set the Step Resolution to 1/8, and the Arp Rate at 24th (both of these are under the Sequence Edit menu). This plays 3 arpeggiated notes per step, and 3 x 16 = 48. So effectively that's a 48 note sequence, but it could be synced to another synth/drum machine that is playing at 120 BPM.

Tom Coppens ah, yeah, I’m on the US website. I think aside from maybe some difference’s in the analog oscillator and the filter that some might find they like the original’s for some reason over the XD’s the rest of the synth is an improvement I’d say w/out a doubt. More capabilities, memory, digital 3rd oscillator, better and multiple effects at once now.
