I’ve been on my minimalist journey since 2016, when we moved. I’m also a teacher currently, so I take my summers to declutter and curate my space. We may be moving after two more years, hopefully to our forever home. When that happens, I want nothing stored in the garage! Just two cars! I’m working on that now. :)

That sounds exciting 😍 we would love to move as well my husband wants to move closer to his work but there are almost no houses or at least houses we are willing to buy.. I really want something smaller but it’s not easy to find where we live

I am with you lady. I don't want to spend too much money. I want to buy a used vehicle on my own. I will pay my own car note. I am 43. Being frugal is intelligent in my opinion. People buy clothing for labels and to feel better about themselves. Me I like it simple. I got three new Gap blouses and three pairs of light airy summer pants by Three dots. i refuse to blow money like that. Thanks for this video.

Your videos have helped me so much. I am a teacher and found myself with years of stuff just collected for school. My spending at thrift stores had gotten out of control and all that stuff added to all the other stuff, and my home was a mess, busting at the seams. I wasn't completely happy and satisfied with my life. I put in slot of hours at work and I just became tired, restless and sad. I compensated by shopping. I've started Dec littering making weekly trips to donate . I've cleaned out closets, drawers, ,venture rooms. Its so freeing to have open, clutter free spaces. Being able to find things is a bonus too. I'm no longer thriving as much, and I'm learning bro live with less. Having so much stuff IS tiring. I have more energy and I'm happier with a minimal , organized home and life.

❤ I have moved so many times... the money I have wasted on moving and storing... the managing of stuff... I'm 44 and just over it. I'm over delayed decisions and tired of the burden of stuff. Been mildly letting go of stuff for 20 years, but found decluttering in 2019. I love the feeling of purging all the unnecessary items. Best to all of you. It is like an onion, many layers and tears.

I became a “minimalist” as a teenager. We had quite a few family members pass away and I helped go through their belongings. I came home to my own room and realized that if something were to happen to me, someone would have to go through my things in a similar way. I saved everything and had piles of stuff I was going to get to later. Back then I didn’t have the KZbin that we know & use today to look up how to get started with something like that. So, I just started throwing everything out. Then, I organized and labeled what was left in a way that would make sense to anyone that walked through my door. The Bible says to keep your eye simple & your whole body will be bright. It’s been about 18 years since then, and I know that statement to be completely true & reliable 🥰🥰

I've been decluttering and wanting more slower loving last couple months as a sahm. It has made a big difference. I however still struggle with emotional eating out or bored browsing. I'm doing less store buys but also trying to stay off social media besides KZbin because I get addicted to looking

Hi Becky, I understand what you went through with clutter and mess. I can relate because my home was cluttered and unorganized. One day I just started decluttering and donating my stuff. Three and a half years later, I have less stuff. My home is still unorganized and cluttered because my husband refuses to donate or shred any of his papers. I love baskets because it contains my belongings and it keeps things organized. Having things organized helps me to find my stuff or something that I need. Love your videos, thank you for sharing your decluttering journey!! Your videos inspire me to keep decluttering any other stuff and organize. ❣️💕

I am undertaking a large downsizing and minimizing but have hit a roadblock. What do you do with things that you know you will use eventually ? For example, I like to burn a candle at night and have always bought tons on sale. I must have at least 12 Bath and Body Works candles unused. Donai slowly use them up or donate some now? I have many items like that.

This video spoke to my heart, thank you. I am tired and overstimulated. In 2020 I ran up most of my credit cards. I used the excuse of loneliness and depression to make emotional purchases. I am slowly paying them off with help but still have 2 major ones to clear. This has held me back from owning a home which hurts because my set backs are effecting my household. I became a Mom last year, we moved, so many changes and new stuff acquired. I’d like to continue spending more quality time with my little one and less time clearly the clutter. I still get the dopamine rush from receiving gifts and I hardly refuse items. I need to address that.

My goal is definitely to live a simpler life. I wish I had these feelings decades ago although my husband and now grown son have different views. I really think for the most part women feel the stress of clutter much more than men.😫 As I have an autoimmune disease and have been dealing with anxiety and panic attacks for the better part of three decades I am just TIRED.😖 If all of the decluttering decisions were mine to make we would probably get rid of 80-90% of our possessions. What I have been doing so far is boxing up household items that my son and my daughter-in-law can use. My DIL is very appreciate of what I offer her.🥰 I have been able to box up extra kitchenwares but still have a lot to go. What they don’t want will go to the charity shops. As not all the possessions in our home are mine I only have so much power.😫😫😫

I completely understand ❤️❤️ my husband and daughter don’t get bothered by clutter and often it feels like they don’t see it hahah but I know from experience now they both function better when our house is simplified. I have had so many conversations with my husband about decluttering and while I don’t declutter his stuff now we have decided I can pull things out of his I feel like we don’t need and he will go through them when he’s ready. He doesn’t enjoy decluttering so if I just make it a quick bag of things and he gets to make quick decisions he doesn’t mind decluttering

I also was guilty of purging at first just to rebuy things. I realized at first I was chasing minimalism because it was popular and I wanted that aesthetic. I got rid of soooo many things to swap out with generic colorless everything. I spent wayyy to much money to impress people who don’t live in my home. As I’ve evolved through it the last few years, I’ve realized I appreciate good neutrals, but paired with COLOR. Without the pops of color I had an aesthetic home but not an AUTHENTIC one. It’s funny because now I get more compliments on my home and the way it looks than when I was doing it just to follow a trend ❤ and I have half the stuff I had back when my house looked like “a minimalist”. Lol.

❤ I’ve been on my minimalism and simplifying journey for over 8 years now and having my 6th baby I definitely crave it even more. I’m not where I want to be yet but I’m working on it. I’ve been selling my stuff on eBay and Poshmark, have actually made decent money and enjoyed it so now it’s a bit of a part time job. I also took loads of our stuff to consignment stores and we earned some money that way while getting things out quick. For me it’s a bit of a struggle since I want my home to be very minimal but still enjoy selling stuff. It’s kind of a conflict of interest 😂 I don’t know if it’s sustainable but it certainly helped with the finances, I just don’t want excess stuff either. Any thoughts?
@minimalease

Great question! Honestly I sold a bunch of stuff at first but now I don’t have much to get rid of so selling stuff just became too much.. maybe designate a box,closet, or room to the things you sell and so you never see it outside that space.

I also had this issue on and off over the years and especially with minimalism these few months. I've put over 10 trash bags of things donated to my curb. I've seen some videos from a few minimalists I've been watching and most say some ground rules they follow. For the most part, if it stresses us and wasn't worth a lot, then it's not worth our time or sanity to pay for it even more to get a few dollars. Some rules I remember is if you spent over $50 on each item can be a marker to follow on what's worth giving your time to. And if it doesn't sell within 1 week or 2 weeks that you give it then to let it go. And also self discipline (which I don't have and hurts me mentally so don't really sell anymore) is good to have by setting time constraints like allowing yourself 1 hrs a day only to post and sell things or add to only be contacted during certain hours. It can distract alot from family or yourself and become a dopamine hit making money from it but can still cost you if it's not organized. Hope this helps!
