Decluttering areas we spend the most time in like our kitchen, entryway, living room, and dining room can be overwhelming! We are going to go through what to declutter in all of the rooms you use the most. Ever wonder why your entryway is always a mess or your living room is never tidy? I will walk you through what I decluttered in these high traffic areas to create a minimalist home that functions for my family.
If you're new, Welcome! My name is Becky Truda. I have been a minimalist for several years now and I love to share what I know with you! If you need or are interested in some helpful resources check out my new

Absolutely! You have great advice and it is so helpful as I’m decluttering and trying to simplify my own life. So glad to know there are wonderful women out there going the opposite way of what our society says we need to do. You are doing an awesome job at motivating us! Keep being you and it will continue shine through in your videos!

I’ve been thinking you could remove that long lower shelf in the lounge room. Would look better as it makes you want to put things on it, looks really empty. One is enough the one you use. Lovely home.

Yes I def could, but we have plaster walls which means taking nails or screws out is a nightmares 🤦🏼‍♀️ I totally agree it’s not necessary hahah

@@minimalease I like it, it adds symmetry to the room with the long table your husband made behind the couch. ❤

I love that you have quit doing things because that type of thing causes stress. For example, throw pillows. We all want it to look like a catalog and it causes stress. I used to think I enjoyed decorating but I’m starting to wonder.

For so long I blindly did whatever others were doing because I thought I had to keep up 🤦🏼‍♀️ that’s why I love minimalism it gives me time and space to decided if I actually like something or what to do something instead of just following the trends 😍 thanks so much for sharing your ideas!

I agree with the pricey pillow, however rather than buy a new one maybe get some cover ( boho print super simple) that helps to keep the shape and firmness of them...just an idea.

I would really want one chair in the living room so everyone doesn’t have to line up on the couch.

when we have guests we bring in our office chairs so I get what you mean. Our living room is long and skinny so it doesn't easily allow for more furniture without feeling cluttered to me, on a daily basis. If we had a bigger family we would probably need a bigger couch but with just the three of us its perfect for movie nights :)

In Australia we don’t use rugs/ runners in the kitchen or powder room. I agree that rugs under the table are challenging to keep clean. I do think a large rug in the lounge/family room makes the space cosy. Your coffee table is too small for the lounge - not practical for a 3 seater sofa. The coffee table needs to be roughly 2/3 the length of a sofa. I like the flow of your home and that you've incorporated furniture pieces that are sentimental to you.

Thanks for the tips and you insight 👍 I had a washable rug in there but my husband didn’t like it so maybe one day I’ll get another one I do agree it might be nice 😊

Why does a coffee table need to be 2/3 the length of a sofa? Where did you get that from? It's literally to put your drinks down on. Is this your design preference, do you mean?

To place a cup of coffe/tea on or a small serving tray, when you're entertaining a guest or simply watching TV.. Coffee tables don't need to be overstyled with designer books and beads.

A L.R. is no longer required. I have eliminated it altogether. Case closed. The room was initially called a parlor. Back in history, early colonials had no such thing, only when some started to acquire money, they expanded their home to include a parlor to entertain, and to host connections for business. The keeping up with the joneses. Fast forward, ppl just followed the crowd. I have done away with that thinking. Unnecessary !
