I'm not a minimalsit but I love minimalsim clear out videos because it helps so much with declutering your house

Have definitely taken major inspiration from your minimalism videos recently. We had clothes that had been in storage since we moved into our house over a year ago, and I've finally sorted through them and donated what we will never wear, and rediscovered things we didn't even realise we'd been missing! x

Ive become addicted to your videos, having a massive minimalist clear out at the moment and I feel so much better for it. I feel like your videos are more helpful and almost feel more down to earth than other people videos who I have watched for minimalism, so massive thanks for the tips and inspiration :D

I totally felt/feel that about somehow having more to declutter 2nd/3rd/etc time round in most areas. I think with me at least it's because I want to own less stuff and therefore my tolerance level of lots of stuff is reduced alongside the stuff I get rid of. The less stuff I have, the less stuff I feel comfortable having around me. Anyway I'm really enjoying this series, I finally took the plunge and started my channel last week! I'm also planning to document my my minimalism progress.

Yeah I knew for a fact last time that I needed to do this again in the near future. And I will be doing it probably again in the new year no doubt! Woooo I'm a new subscriber, love hearing about my viewers starting channels, it makes me so happy!

I love your declutter videos ❤️ and I think wooden hangers are so much more beautiful and earthy/natural looking than other hangers. Plus they're so sturdy and will never break like thin velvet ones can. They're a good investment I think :)
@MadeleineOlivia8 жыл бұрын
You make a very good point. I don't intend on getting rid of them because as I said it is wasteful. Maybe it's a case of the grass is greener!

Oh! you can justify buying new hangers to free up space!! I have the nice slim velvet hangers which double up so you can hang trousers or skirts (skirts I don't wear, mine are for my trousers)and the top for tops or jackets takes up less space,they are great stops clothes slipping off.Best move I made hope this helps xx

I recently bought the velvet slim hangers and when I saw your video I thought "oh those wooden hangers are so nice, maybe I should have gotten those" then you mentioned they take up more space....good to know!! I'm still working on not wanting to purchase new things and using what I've already got!!
@MadeleineOlivia8 жыл бұрын
Yeah I love the way they look they're so pretty but I know if I had smaller hangers my wardrobe would have so much more space in it!
@cynthia60558 жыл бұрын
I have tons of those slim hangers that are non slip, nice yes, tho' actually like a more slippery hanger. Have to be careful taking clothes on and off the non slip slim hangers. So who knows for sure what is best. But I'm invested in those, so will continue on them.
@meaganm778 жыл бұрын
Cindy I agree!! We hang the majority of our clothing and it's a bit annoying how much they grip the clothing but like you I'm sticking with them since I bought them. Hard to know what works best until you've tried different options I guess.
@cynthia60558 жыл бұрын
Thanks for your reply Meagan, and exactly how we feel too, almost afraid to tear or stretch an item or sometimes difficult to get an item on the hanger, too grippy (new word, lol). But yes, sticking with them, they are working and were an investment.

I can so relate to you at the beginning of your video where you said basically... the less you have the less you want! the more you want to get rid of.. I still feel like I have a lot of stuff but I really did get rid of a bunch!

But now I know that everything I own, I use and love! I got tid of 5 items just yesterday, and my mom is freaking out, but it's not her life ahha :)

Love it ! I've just done another big clear out, I'm tempted sometimes to just keep 5 outfits, but I feel this would be pretty wasteful since many of my clothes are in great condition. I'm trying a buy nothing new for 2017 (I've failed at this the last few years).
@loathereality8 жыл бұрын
You should try and sell some of the stuff. I discovered the depop app and it actually made me get rid of a lot of the stuff I never even worn. Why do we get so attached to clothing items, I'll never know. But yeah, minimalism is a journey.

I think minimalism a really good thing, especially because the environment really needs people buying less stuff. The only thing I find difficult is the thing that will be donated and thrown away. The donating is not as good at as it sounds. There are complete villages in Africa overflowing with our clothing that we think we donate but will be dumped in Africa. There are so many items donated that there is an over flow of donated clothing and also electronic items. So please even do you want to go to minimalism keep the clothing you might like again and store them somewhere else. Then 3 times a year just go trough those items to see if you can't find new love for them. If not try to sell the items so you now they will really be reused. In the place I live in you have an shop for people that are having to go to the food bank and they can pick up 2 complete sets of clothing 2 a year. So everything you bring in will be worn again. So just look into the donating thing before you dump you're items somewhere and check what really happens to you clothing. And for the clothing that are not 100% anymore try to fix them or let them be fixed, for the really ruined there are brands where you can bring those items and they will recycle you're old items. I think the most important thing is not buying so much anymore, so keep what you have but just don't buy any new clothing or other things for that matter! We have to safe our planet, we are just destroying with our materialistic behavior.
