Dez….Welcome to the club! Happy 70th birthday. I am 72 now and I have to say, there are definitely some changes in my hair, my skin, etc., but I am very active and I subscribe to my dad’s eating wisdom……Eat as you should 70-80 % of the time, so you can eat what you love other times. My hair is definitely thinned a bit…some lines have taken up permanent residence….gravity has visited …BUT…all in all, I feel great, stay active and have my husband, children and friends. So life at 72 is pretty damn good. While , like most women, I would love to have some of my 40’s back, I am so much more comfortable in who I am, and what I do and do not give a damn about anymore. My gratitude for life is greater than at any other time, and I hope to be blessed to add many more candles to my birthday cake. Cheers to you and thanks for how wonderfully and honestly you represent ladies of our age.🍷❤

I turned 70 on September 22nd. I quit drinking in 1983 and have dallied on and off thru the years with smoking on and off. I quit again for good on Sept 1st. I decided to go gray this year from my natural auburn, and am ditching the pixie cut for casual up dos! The natural wave and curl in my hair is blowing me away. Mom had a medium complexion with jet black hair in her youth and beautiful salt and pepper hair, and my red came from my German/Dutch father. It's a wonderful time to be alive. Happy Birthday! I am very low key when it comes to makeup, so this approach looks nice. Thanks for uploading!

Happy Birthday Dez! Great video. I am also a September girl and turned 62 on the 17th. Although I see the signs of aging coming am feeling so grateful to be here and in good health. My mommy never got to this age, she died at 53 of lung cancer. She was also a smoker and social drinker as were so many of her generation. As a result, my sisters and I have lived a different way, none of us smoke or drink, and we live a much more healthy lifestyle. As for makeup, I find I like less actual foundation, just a touch of concealer and powder. But I am wearing more eyeliner. Think I look more youthful with it, which is a change for me! Not a red lip girl but rocked it in the 80's! Like you I think it ages me. These days it is a slightly brighter pink or plummy lipcolor. Cheers Dez, I hope you enjoy your special day. Honestly the older I get the more I appreciate 'natural' looking women you look lovely to me before any make up. I despair sometimes when I see young girls that probably were beautiful that have pumped their lips and cheeks up to the extent of ridiculousness then on top dyed their hair a colour that just does not suit their skin colour so I really appreciate seeing more natural looking women now.

I'm 63 and I'm very happy to just grow old gracefully. I like wearing makeup, but I don't bother with it if I'm just nipping to Sainsbury's or visiting my Mum in the nursing home - I prefer the au naturel look!

I've noticed that recently I've been using less makeup. More neutral eyes and bb cream instead of foundation. I still use a colourful lipstick but not red or bright pink . Happy birthday Dez ❤

It's lovely to find a fellow older English lady demonstrating make up. I turned 60 this year and spent my special birthday with family at a farmhouse at the East Coast. That January long weekend was cold and the sea was wild. Nowadays I find more neutral makeup is far better for me. When I apply heavier makeup I look older than I do with makeup and appear more Lily Savage than glam gran. My great grandfather was a (Victorian and Edwardian period) professional female impersonator but I don't want to do him proud!

I found your videos today and am enjoying learning about fashion and makeup from someone my age instead of from all the 20-40 year old's. As I was approaching my 70th birthday, I found that I have started to question the makeup I've been using and my wardrobe, and....... I'm seeing that less makeup is younger looking than wearing what I have been. And, moving into a new decade, I want my wardrobe to truly reflect ME. Happy Birthday! I have hazel-green eyes, so do my sons. My husband had dark brown eyes and so did my mom. You never know what you're going to get! Anyway, sometimes my eyes have more of a brown hint, but most times they go toward the green, especially if I wear green, red or orangey shades. Love your make-up!

I was amazed at how similar your experiences were to mine. My Mother was looking forward to her 70th Birthday in June, but by February she was dead. It was such a shock as she was never ill, didn’t have any arthritis and was fit and active. She was teetotal all her life, but was a heavy smoker. She managed to give it up a few years so before she died, the damage was done and she died from an aggressive cancer. She also had osteoporosis (no symptoms though). I neither drink nor smoke, but I have osteopenia. My Mother had very blonde hair, fair skin and piercing blue eyes, my Father had clear green eyes and black hair with tanned skin. I was a perfect mixture of them both; I had blond highlife light brown hair, with light brown eyes. One brother was blond with blue eyes and the other was dark brown with hazel eyes. I’ve just discovered your channel and I’m trying to gain confidence at wearing make-up again. I’m 67 and since I retired some years ago, I have stopped wearing makeup and feel old and insignificant.

Wishing you a very happy birthday Dez! Loved this makeup look - so pretty and fresh, and you have a lovely eye shape with or without eyeliner! I may try that eyeshadow too - only my eyes are a bit hooded now so getting it right is tricky. Eyeliners I love though! Wondered if you've ever thought of trying a green eyeliner pencil? Having brown eyes myself I used to always go with darker eyeliner, but lately have been experimenting with a bit of green. I'm 65 so not anything bright😂 but I found a Dr Hauska soft green which is almost neutral and use along with a Taupe pencil by the same make, just enough to give definition, and I find that bit of green brightens my brown eyes a bit. I occasionally add a bit of MAC's 'Minted' if I want to play up the green for evening. Enjoy Suffolk! Love that coast especially this time of year.❤🌹🥂🐚🍂

Thanks so much Sian! Very interesting you should mention green eyeliner -I have actually bought the VB eyeshadow stick in green but haven't tried it out yet. Like the sound of the Dr Hauska and MAC too. First time watching, and I noticed that you pump your mascara tube for more mascara. I've been told to put it in and turn it a few times to prevent drying out the product. You're very beautiful, and I'm going to try this with my new wig. I'm 72!!! Feel 55 on a good day!!!! Thanks

I have heard that eyelash serum discolours your eyelids, better to use it on your brows, works wonders. I have just started using Boots BB cream and I love it. Avon do some lovely lip glosses that are quite pigmented too.

yes your minimalist makeup looks great! You definitely suit the cooler tones for your makeup - that Elf foundation really brightened your skin tone and the blush added a healthy glow.. Thank you for sharing your makeup routine. On the health side, (i'm now 73), I have found that taking a few vitamin and mineral supplements very beneficial for both my mental and physical health.

Thank you! I also take a couple of vitamins - Zinc for my hair (GP recommended) and Vitamin D, along with lots of fruit and veg. So far it seems to work. We're so lucky that we live now with so much useful info around to help us stay well ❤️

Looking good, I like the finished look. Not too made up 😊 When you are doing your mascara, don't pump your brush into the barrel it will make the contents dry up quicker. I just turned 60 this month, and have been out buying a few new cosmetics to try too. 🙃😊🌈
