Heck yes! i still remember my first 'road warrior' overseas biz trip (3 countries) ~20 years ago, and my mentor/boss chastising me when I showed up at the airport with a checked-only suitcase. he showed me tough-love, lol. Lesson learned. I quickly (& my wife too) extended that travel-savviness to not just biz travel, but also on holidays. Free & agile ftw. my personal choice is as soft-sided 2-wheel puller, that also has 'emergency' pull-out backpack straps. So when i encounter really rough surfaces (or those awkward staircases like you showed), I can just throw it up on my back for a bit... And finally, re: your point on disembarking Int'l flights. A little game I like to play is trying to beat my personal "best time" for getting from the jetway-to-curbside, after stepping off an overseas flight. I'm in Norcal , so my top-times so far are : SFO: 8 minutes; OAK: 5 minutes; SJC: 3 (!!) minutes. (Global Entry card, of course, helps ;-D )

The only thing I really wished that I had that I didn’t pack when doing carry-on only, was a sweater or sweatshirt. Thought I didn’t need it because the weather was supposed to be warm, but it turned a little cooler than I expected. I always carry-on only, even for cruises.

Good idea! We're cruising again in February to the Bahamas, but I'm definitely taking a cozy cardigan (for on the plane if nothing else). ⛱️ 🌴

I think it's easier to back light when traveling in warm weather.

Love this! Thanks. So true about international travel. I love white leather tennis shoes for airport, walking, gym, going out to eat, shopping (just wash insoles or air out on balcony)… they just make everything look put together. And 1 pair of sandals for the beach (for summer) or ballet flats (for winter, and going out to dinner or around town)… Only thing is, how do you deal with hair appliances? All the ones I love are just so big in luggage!

Yes on the shoes! I find most places have hair dryers, and I *do squeeze in a teeny little flat iron because otherwise I have straightup Justin Bieber bangs 😂

I agree 100% with every word you’ve said in this video! I travel with a backpack on wheels 🛞 and I manage to put there everything I need for the trips. With a certain age comes a need for more meds and CPAP machine that takes 1/2 of the space in the bag, but that means 1/2 is still available for everything else ready for adventure 🤗😃

@@MilesAwaywithUs I go light on a cruise too. 😃I do not think that anyone on a cruise cares/notices how many shoes 👠 someone has changed . Everyone is focused on himself only and does not care about strangers,so you are right in your video 100%

When we were in Rome, the elevator was super tiny, and even with carry-on only, the bags didn't fit with anyone in the elevator - so I sent my son up, then he sent the elevator back down, I loaded up the bags, then sent them up to him....no way was I hauling them up seven flights of stairs!

Those elevators 😂 We had to take turns going up one, too, in a very old building in the Latin quarter in Paris, even with carry on only. I think they're literally built into old chimneys...😆
