Thanks so much for this review. I have the Xero Z-trail, and use it as an every day shoe like you, but was looking for something I could hike in. Great to see a comparison from someone who actually loves and uses these shoes.

Yes! They are pretty awesome. I love the grip and the secure fit. The strapping is awesome. I use mine regularly! Glad you enjoy yours just the same! I’m going to be getting mine re-soled in the next few weeks and should be posting a review about it.

I have both of those. The Xero's a great....until they aren't. The traction is serviceable and provides about what one would expect without a shoe at all. The biggest problem I've had with them is that the nylon webbing rubs the top of my foot raw when the webbing is wet. The Bedrocks feel clunky in comparison, but the really hold your foot in place, reduce the fatigue than the thinner soled Xero's have and offer much grippier traction. The Xero's are about as close to barefoot as you can get when it comes to feeling the ground without having to worry about a stick or piece of glass puncturing your foot. Bedrocks are more of a tank in that regard, but they work.

Great comparison it helps a good bit for deciding too! I love how you refer to the toe lock strap or whatever as a "thong" it's so great!
Great review! One thing you didn't mention and you probably wouldn't know as you have wide feet (mine are narrow), is that the Xero Z-Trails are downright dangerous for those with narrow feet. You touched on it: foot sliding on the footbed when the sandal gets wet - the design fault with these is that the strap posts are fixed on the sole and the sole is wide. When I wore mine I could get a whole finger between the strap post and my foot! Then on the trail walking through a stream - wow - very nearly had a serious accident with my foot sliding about all over the place. Wrote to Xero who said "sorry to hear about your accident, but we have no plans to make a narrower version". I ditched mine. I recommend for normal walking in the dry and with wide feet ONLY - me, I'm going for the Bedrocks.
@PerfectingMovement2 жыл бұрын
Yes, one of the benefits of Xero, is that they accommodate really wide feet. However, if you were one of those individuals that does not have a wide foot, you would be slopping around in the sandal.

to be fair, there just aren't that many options for people with super wide feet, so it's kinda unfair to try to take away one of the few options we have when most shoes already cater for you with narrower feet
@jnturner7828 Жыл бұрын
@@mintymilkk Not taking them away Minty, just advising they're for super wide only. As someone with super narrow feet (we're the smallest group), and after years of looking, I finally struck gold with a pair of Shamma toestrap sandals with goatskin footbed.

@@PerfectingMovement I have wide feet and considering one or the other.. or both. Would the Bedrocks be out of the game for Hobbits?

I have free Wide feet and these still work well for me. I truly do love the BedRocks. Otherwise, if you are looking for the MegaGrip, and wider, you could check out the Luna OSOs. I would definitely risk it with the Bedrocks. If they don’t work, return. Just my thought.

Hello how you doing sir. This was a great comparison between the two sandals. I was born with very very extremely wide foot for a baby. As I got older my foot got wider and wider and my toes got bigger and bigger. 2 months before I graduated from high school my foot outgrew socks & the last week of school before I graduated my foot finally outgrew tennis shoes. I ended up graduating walking across the stage to pick up my high school diploma barefooted 👣 & I also got a diploma for having the widest foot in high school history. The school has one of those diplomas and I have one . The school has that diploma hung up on the wall to this day & I have mines on the wall too. I graduated with my foot being a size 13 4 EEEE wide with big toe that were equally straight across & now my foot is a size 15 6 EEEEEE wide with very fat wide toe that equally straight across making my foot 6 1/2 inches wide from my big toe to my little toe. With my foot finally out growing shoes and socks the only Footwear that will fitting me is a pair of flip flop. Which my flip flops barely and I mean barely fit me because my toes were wider than the flip flop strap. There were times where it would take me three minutes to put flip flops on my feet oval could not get them to fit on my foot and I had to go Barefooted 👣for the day. It was really tough trying to go to the store barefooted 👣 no shoes , no shirt , no service and not have to had friends or family to go to the store to get the things I need it because I could not go in the store barefooted 👣 so i tried a pair of the Z Trail sandals and could not get my foot to fit through the straps on the sandal. I know it was because my toes being so fat and very wide. I was in Walmart one day and saw a big guy wearing Bedrock sandals. He had big wide toes so I decided to ask him where did he get those sandals at. He saw I had flip flops on and notice I had big fat wide toes like him too and told me he had Bedrock sandals on. So I bought me a pair and it has changed my life. I have worn them every single day since I have bought them a year ago. I do every single thing in these sandals from cutting grass , walking , riding bikes , playing football with 5 boys , wearing them to work loading up 53 ft trailers and flatbed trailers. You name it I do it with these sandal on. I am a long-distance truck driver 🚛 and a lot of truck drivers ask me what kind of sandals I'm wearing. Thank you for showing me your foot bed on your sandals because I thought my footbed on my sandals worn down down too fast but I had the same problems with my flip-flops too. It was good that you showed the footbed of the sandals cuz that shows how tough the footbed is really built. The only problem that I have with the sandal is I wish the sandal was a little bit more wider. Both of my little toes hanging off the footbed of the sandal but I had that same problem with the flip flops too. I can't be picky though when i have a foot that is 6 1/2 inches wide from the big toe to the little toe. It really really sucks having a big very very extremely wide foot with very fat wide toes that are equally straight across. I wish my toes were at a 45 degree angle like everybody else's toes so my foot would fit better on the sandal. I never thought having a wide foot as a little kid will be a problem but now that my foot has outgrown shoes and socks I never thought I would have to live my life barefooted 👣 Style. I thought I share my Love for Bedrock sandals and how they changed my life. Happy Easter to you and your family sir.

Hey Mack! Happy Easter to you as well! I love Bedrocks, but I think you should definitely check out Luna Sandals. They are with a wider foot bed that might accommodate your super wide foot. The Osos Have the vibram megagrip as well. Thanks for watching!

@@PerfectingMovement yes definitely can agree with you love my bedrock. I will have to check out the Luna sandals they have a wider footbed. One of my sons could definitely use this sandals. I have 5 boys & all of them have wide feet. My third son is the only one with the extremely wide foot like Mines. He is 12 years old with a sz13 3 EEE wide but I think it just went to a 4 EEEE wide with all of his toes equally straight across like mines because just last week his foot finally outgrow socks. He can only get 4 toes in a sock. He is Young to have this type of foot problem. The only good thing about it is he does not have fat wide toes like I do but his toes are not small either. Thank you for the information sir I really appreciate that.

@@PerfectingMovement LOL that's exactly what my wife said to me! They got my genes. I personally wish I did not have a wide foot with fat wide toes but my wife and granddaughter like them for some reason. Both of them like to play with my toes when I'm laid-back relaxing in my chair for some reason. My wife said she loves seeing my fat wide toes because God made me special with them and she want to spend the rest of her life with a special man. She even married me barefooted 👣 style because I could not find a dress shoe and sock to fit my foot she wanted us to be a special couple. I truly have a good wife. She's always been there for me with my foot problems whether it was finding me a new pair of flip-flops , I'll go inside the store because I could not go in there barefooted 👣 because I couldn't get the flip flops on my feet. My kids have been the same to they always have helped me even my granddaughter has been there to help me. I definitely have a great family.

I am having weird back pain and discomfort wearing the bedrock 3d adventure, I like the concept overall though but I’m feeling like I should return them. I’ve walked probably at least 5 miles in them now, it seems like the worst pain is on concrete and walking around the city. Does the back pain ease up at all?
@PerfectingMovement2 жыл бұрын
Hi there! Sorry for the delay in response. To be honest, I don’t think the sandals are causing you back pain, but likely there is some other underlying issue which is causing it. I would encourage you to Watch my playlist of how to walk correctly. You can find it below: Learn To Walk Properly kzbin.info/aero/PLmTgnph6MiE_RDdTt_eQLPm5SucLR2L95 Otherwise, you may benefit from some proper core strengthening or posture reeducation. It’s such a small change as changing your shoes causes significant pain in your lower back, I feel like it was just a straw that broke the camels back and it is a matter of time before you would get low back pain anyway. However, you want to be comfortable, and if consistently these sandals cause low back pain, and you don’t have the time or the energy to discover other factors which could be causing your back pain, you may want to return them.

Do you find the Bedrocks to be to narrow and that your foot falls off the footbed? I have Shamma's right now, and overall they're good, but my foot can edge off the corners, both heel and forefoot. Ah, just hearing in the video now that you're addressing this.

How would you compare the Luna Winged Monos to these?
@PerfectingMovement4 жыл бұрын
So I personally have not worn the Monos 🐒, but to my understanding, they have a foam like sole which is cushiony and soft. The bed rock sandals have a firmer sole. The Mono would not have the grip on natural terrain like the Vibram megagrip which is found on the Oso 🐻 sandals from Luna and the bed rock Cairn pro ....I hope to get a pair of the Oso sandals sometime next summer. Nevertheless, I love the bedrock sandals because of the three point adjustment system which I do not believe is on lunas.
@PerfectingMovement4 жыл бұрын
The benefit of the bedrock sandals is that they are super easy to adjust and unlike many other huarache style sandals, you do not need to “dial them in“. If you are accustomed to huarache style sandals with limited strapping options, you will know what I’m talking about

@@PerfectingMovement Thank you so much. Of all the sandals you're aware of, what would your top recommendation be for a sandal to basically wear all the time (weather permitting) walking around town (including on dates, with jeans and a button-down, etc.)?
@PerfectingMovement4 жыл бұрын
If you were going to be doing stuff like hiking and trail running in it, I would go with the bedrock cairn pro. If you are going to be doing more casual stuff in it, and not really hiking or trail running in it, I would go with the Xero Z trail. Hope this helps! Overall, I find the bedrocks the most versatile.
