Chatty Coffee Dates with Sabrina are my favorite parts of this channel because Sabrina brings really good balance. Sabrina, I’m so glad you figured out that dreadlocks helped keep you safe! It was SO wonderful to finally hear more of your story and what has shaped and continues to shape you. I’m glad you were able to feel comfortable enough to share more about yourself. Your beautiful pink dreadlock head wrap looks like a literal crown! Much love and strength to you. 🌸

And just maybe…. There’s a broken hurting worldly girl with dreads and weird colored hair who could ONLY hear truth from someone who looks like her 🤔 Such a sweet precious lady. Keep doing what you’re doing. Both of you ❤

Hi ladies! Thank you for your maturity and transparency while discussing this topic. Sabrina, I’ve met a young lady who suffers with the sporadic black outs. She was also tested for “Potts”. I saw her black out one time. One second she’s just walking down a hallway…next second she’s on the floor unconscious. How awful. Praise the Lord, one day sickness will no longer exist! God bless you my sweet sisters in Christ. ❤

My 10 year old son has very long curly hair....he is autistic with major scensory issues and loves his hair and uses it as a safety blanket basically. I love it as well....but everytime we have family gatherings or out in public he gets comments. I just do not understand why people feel the need to comment on others appearances. It gets so old. Sabrina I love your hair and I am so sorry people are making you feel bad.

This was such a great conversation. I have definitely been guilty of judging others based on their looks. I’m so glad I was able to meet Sabrina when we came to see you a couple of years ago. She is so sweet and loves the Lord. Thank you for sharing your story, Sabrina. I hope this opens others eyes up to stop looking at the outward appearance but rather the heart if we want to be like Christ. ❤️❤️

We never know what so.eone is walking through. Sabrina is a prime example. I have auto immune issues and my mom has asked why I don't get a scooter for when I have to walk for too long, but because people can't "see" my issues, they end up judging me or anyone else in the same situation. Bless you both! As Christians we are to love as Christ loves and I think you are both beautiful inside and out!❤❤

Christina, I was thrilled when I saw you had a nose ring because I just got one 2 weeks ago. I'm a 38 year old Christian wife and mom. I am the same height as Sabrina. People tend to look at me and think I'm Mennonite or something because I almost always wear dresses and skirts. I just love old fashioned style clothing and it's just so comfortable to me. Good for you two for addressing this subject.

Why as Christians do we need nose rings? Don't get things because others do. The world is what makes those things popular. If we can live 30+ years without them, why do we need to add them? I'm not trying to disparage you. I am just saying that we look great as we are. I apologize if I'm coming across a different way.

Oh Sabrina, it breaks my heart to hear the horrible things said and done to you. I am so sorry all of that happened! As someone who also has a lot of body/self image issues, this saying has helped me lately not to take things so personal: “what someone says about me doesn’t mean I am those things. It just shows the fruits that they are bearing.” Knowing that how they act ONLY shows who THEY are and not me makes me feel a lot better and cope quicker. May God bless you and preserve my sister! ❤

I often listen to KZbin videos as background noise while I do housework or other things. I started the video without looking at the screen at all, and let me just say, my vocal impression of Sabrina is everything that Heidi describes! Very sweet, very kind, Full of wisdom, but not pushing herself forward. As they began to describe the reason for the video, THAT’S when I picked up the screen to see the pink hair! By the way, it looks adorable, and you rock those dreadlocks❤

I am going off the subject but like to add that even if someone is gay and has colored or not colored hair, I believe we as believers are to be kind and loving to everyone. It doesn`t mean I will wear a tshirt to support their lifestyle, etc but more churches are affirming gay and transgender life styles. I believe we as believers can be kind and loving to people and not affirm or support umbilical lifestyles. God willing, we all will have opportunity to share God`s truth in love.

Sabrina, I understand your staying home. My mom suffered from Epilepsy and regular no notice Grandmal Seizures that took a shot to release. So frightening and embarrassing when this happened in public. People freak out and don’t listen to family instructions on how to handle the situation which often makes it worse. Epilepsy may not be your issue, but I pray you either always have someone with you always or a big dog to fall on. Full size Collies & German Sheppard’s worked well for her. Glad your pink hair makes you feel happy 😃.

I think worldly in the sense of wearing clothes, jewelry, and makeup would be if someone shows no characteristics of walking with Jesus ( fruits of the spirit) and someone is dressing to bring attention to themselves. I think wearing clothes, makeup, jewelry is a way to complement a person`s appearance. To be honest regarding colored hair and short hair on women, that the way the world is today, the world has tainted that and I automatically wonder if someone is gay and at first have a snap judgement but I do strive to look at who a person truly is. I truly appreciate you both for talking about this topic. There are unfortunately women in church who dress immodestly. You are both sweet, gentle, and bold in sharing God and His word. God bless you both.

Now I am 45 years old and one of my goals is to get my nose pierced just because like you said we go to trauma and you need to overcome some fears and stuff like that, I do believe that the Christians may find that ungodly that’s one thing that I’ve struggled with growing up in a Christian home but I can’t stop being unique and if Christian people wanna put me down for that or judge me that’s not right either I totally agree, but you guys are saying It’s a new generation and how we have to see things in a different way and that’s what I believe

You do not need one. You look great. As Christians we don't need to follow others and do what they find appealing or popular. Did you feel like you need one 15 years ago? They are not needed. Many people with them have become to idolize them when they are a hole and accessory.

Sabrina, thank you for this! You are beautiful and I definitely see Jesus in you! As someone that struggles with a chronic illness that have not only taken a physical but mental toll on me, I like you try to find some joy in the little things. I too love gray hair and have wished that mine would just go gray but at 43 mine is only around my face and the rest of my hair is dark brown, I didn’t want to look “worldly or vain” and dye my hair but my sweet husband said for our 17th anniversary that he wanted to gift me getting my hair dyed, he even called the beauty salon and made the appt for color with highlights, I did cause he wanted me too and cause the reason behind it was he wanted me to recapture some of the confidence that my illness had taken away… while my focus is on my inner “beauty” I hadn’t even noticed just how much the physical changes that my illness had caused and the way it made me see myself… I’m sure your husband like mine just wanted us to feel good about ourselves and see our own beauty like they do! While I don’t like the do what makes you happy phrase (cause we should do what makes us holy)… I do agree and love Heidi’s find the beauty in things approach… we should find things that give us a little joy! Also praying for you and that the surgery you need will happen and help you!

‭‭Ezekiel‬ ‭16:12, 15 "I put a ring in your nose, earrings on your ears, and a beautiful crown on your head.... ‭‭Ezekiel‬ ‭16:15‬ ‭NET‬‬ [15] “‘But you trusted in your beauty and capitalized on your fame by becoming a prostitute." The problem isn't the nose ring, the jewelry, the nice clothes, or being beautiful. The Lord describes giving those things to Israel as good gifts FROM HIM -- all of it, nose ring included. The problem was Israel trusting in her own beauty and acting as a prostitute. Read the whole chapter and see what God says He did for Israel and then what she did. Was God saying He made a mistake giving those things to her? Or that she MISUSED them and her behavior was the problem?

I think the key takeaway here is that the people who are judging need extra prayer and love. It’s easy to focus on how someone judges us and we lose sight of what they are going through or where their walk is with the Lord and that they are needing an example. What we don’t want to do is spend more time being offended. If someone is judging especially a fellow believer the first response should be are you in need of prayer or hey I would love to talk with you and work through these things. I personally feel that these types of conversations are better placed in a close group because if someone who we’re looking to this video for some insight what they may hear is a sort of gossip/judgemental session. We can expectI that we are going to encounter these kind of things. To someone who hasn’t had much experience with the lovely ladies on this channel it could present as cattiness. I really carefully thought this out before I responded and I say this in love. I hope that makes sense.

I bet most “Christian’s” today would think John the Baptist a bum. I’ve also said that if Jesus would come through our time that “Christian’s” would crucify him all over again. Legalism has no room in the faith and grace that Jesus Christ offers.

Sabrina that is so romantic about your husband playing with your hair and dying it for you. It sounds as though your husband is so thoughtful and knows what you love & shows his love through your hair. I'd love my hair to be played with by my husband without having to tell him to, as i have long hair too and my husband doesn't necessarily voluntarily touch it without being told. I also have dyed my hair since I was about 14yrs old, I have blond hair at the front section and the rest blends in with my natural brownish colour as well as other colours I've tried in the past lol. The only time I tried something very different was after lockdown in 2021 & i went purplely red with the blond section at the front, I did it because I came to the point of, I don't care what people think anymore and did it because I wanted to & it didn't matter what people thought. Thank you for explaining why you have your hair the way you do & dreadlocks that I didn't even realise you had. You've been brave to allow yourself to be vulnerable to those who have no idea. X

My belief is that this goes way deeper than the physical. I grew up in a fundamentalist group that is considered by most Christians to be a cult. Makeup and Jewelry was frowned upon, where jewelry and especially piercings were considered to be pagan and extremely vain. Their prophetess had said that it was vain to wear jewelry because she came from a time when most jewelry was made from precious stones or gold/silver. So it was perfectly normal for women to wear very nice expensive clothes to church and drive a 60,000-80,000 car and yet condemn the girl wearing a $10.00 pair of earrings for being vain, rebellious and pagan. Even wedding rings were not ok, which to me was very upsetting because stories abounded of how married women or men would be hit on because they didn't wear a wedding ring, much to the embarrassment of the poor person who didn't know they were married in the first place. The older women used tactics such as ignoring, shunning, gossiping and generally acting better than those who didn't conform. I have always been a girlie girl and I love makeup and jewelry and I never could see any biblical evidence for their assertions, so I did what I did normally. I refused to take off my jewelry when I went to church or church events, just so I could fit in, it just didn't seem genuine and I didn't like the control that was held over the women and as a result I was often hurt as I was not well accepted. What I began to see over time that much of what was occurring was not based in logic, it was not based on biblical doctrine, but instead it was based on a prideful religious and legalistic spirit as well as deep seated jealousy. Especially as the younger generation came along, feeling secure in their personal relationship with Christ and unwilling to conform to man made traditions. It wasn't just that the younger girls looked pretty, they actually believed that they loved the Lord and that he approved of them. That made the older women so angry. And on some level I began to understand that they had never been allowed to look pretty or to feel feminine and they felt they were doing it all for the Lord. Then these young ones came along and got to be pretty and feel feminine and they believed that they were loved by the Lord. They were enraged because it was confusing to them and their pride in what they had been practicing all their life (basically abstinence from vanity as they believed) pushed them to treat the young women with contempt. The jealousy and envy was a real thing. One women I know told a younger woman that because she wore jewelry on this earth, she would not receive jewelry in heaven, she had her opportunity to be beautiful here, so it wouldn't be allowed in heaven. But all the women who had not done so were to be rewarded! I had to giggle a little at that one. At certain churches where the women were only allowed to wear dresses and no makeup and jewelry, any outside women were shunned. One of my very dear friends would go to their home-school co-op group and sit in the car while her husband attended because if she went inside the women would completely ignore her, acting as if she wasn't there and she didn't even wear jewelry, just mascara. Her only sin was that she was beautiful and they couldn't handle being around her. They were also extremely scared that their husbands were going to lust after the bejeweled women. At our business when a man was hired, his wife saw a picture of me and asked my husband if I still looked like that and her mother said that any posters of women who were modeling a certain product we sold should be taken down so that her son-in-law wouldn't be tempted by them. She was worried that her husband was going to be lured away by the woman with makeup and jewelry. It's sad really, it gives some Christian women a sense of pride fullness about their own abstinence while they accuse others of being vain and prideful. They say the women are sinful for being worldly, while they burn with jealousy at not only their appearance by also their freedom in Christ. Now looking back I can see what was really going on and it makes me sad that their judgements don't come from a place of concern or kindness or even really caring about other women's heart and walk with the Lord, but from their own fears, jealousy and misguided scriptural interpretation. It's one thing when a woman is all dolled up and flirting with your husband and calls herself a Christian, but what if a woman looks really beautiful inside and out and is chaste and dresses to please her husband? What if all Christian women were allowed to be beautiful inside and out and were able to embrace their inner and outer beauty and understand how fearfully and wonderfully made women are and how were gravitate toward the beautiful and lovely things in life? Yet, at the same time they were godly and careful with how they handled themselves around other men and true godliness bubbled up from the inside. Because that is what I see among my sisters in Christ. I attend a church where the women are gorgeous and unique and some wear makeup and jewelry and some do not but they all love each other and allow each other to express themselves as they wish. They are also women who are careful with their boundaries and how they interact with men in general. They love on each other so much and are so careful with their words, they truly emulate Jesus. I appreciate both of you Sabrina and Heidi and I'm so glad that you aren't letting these comments go unnoticed or unaddressed. For we to use our discernment yes, but not let religious and legalistic spirits work through us, stirring up jealousy and condemnation of our sisters-in-Christ.

This is awesome girls! Sabrina, I make synthetic dread extensions and braid them in my hair all the time. It gives me more confidence in my dread adventures. I find it's interesting how judgemental people are and mainly Christians unfortunately. I've grown up in a very judgemental Christian home. Its so sad. Even careers etc we get frowned upon. I find that the enemy hits you where you are triggered, because satan knows our buttons. We fight not against flesh and blood but spiritually. We are to love each other. How is judging love?

It is better for people to ask others questions before judging someone.

One of the things I remember is a woman speaker who said that we need to always look at someone and find something nice to say to that person. We, as Christians, need to love others. Sometimes I do look at a woman and wonder why she has tattoos, but I would never say anything. I just wonder why a woman has tattoos, not thinking they should not have a tattoo. For me, it is a question, not a judgment. I do not think that Sabrina is a good Christian woman because of how she looks. From listening to you, Sabrina, I see a beautiful Christian woman. The important thing is that we are to be people whom others can see Christ through. Sabrina, my heart goes out to you because of what you are going through physically and mentally. I can relate to your major depression because I have Major Depression and Seasonal Depression. I will add you to my prayer list. You are a love and I am blessed to have seen and heard you today. Hugs to you two ladies, Love in Christ,

You are both beautiful testaments to God's wonderful creative abilities. Just know that those little attacks are Satan trying to hold you back and weaken your faith... You must be giving him fits living your heavenly minded life, ministering to us online and walking with Christ. I just found your videos and I'm very thankful for Heavenly Minded. Your show is something I really needed at this point. Much love to you both❤

Absolutely nothing wrong with having different thoughts/views. Never! But we must all be willing to look at those views through scripture and not personal feelings- and never come at someone without love. 💕 📖

Dear Heidi and Sabrina this was the most enlightenig and convicting thing I have heard all day. To put my thoughts in context I am a 73 y/o retired home school mom who taught my 3 kids through the 1990’s. I treasure my husband and love God’s Word. I was raised in a legalistic Baptist environment of church and home. Obedience was utmost to earthly authority. More recently I spent the better part of 9 years in a Messianic community because I wanted to learn and experience the Feasts of the Lord and worship on Sabbath. That was great until leadership went off the rails with NAR music and theology. For the last 5+ years I became a below the knee amputee from cancer in my ankle. All that to say, The LORD has been faithful to me on my journey. Your Chatty & Coffee episode today was amazing. It gripped my heart to the point I am going to share it with a few significant young women who may have felt judged by me even if I never said a word about their preference of hair color and other adornment. One in particular whose color of choice is purple and I know she suffered from years of depression and migraines. It never occurred to me that her choice of hair color may have been her only way to distract herself in order to feel a moment of joy. I have other examples who will be receiving this episode to be an encouragement to them as well. Keep up the good work and your transparency.

I loved listening to this podcast ! I’m a wild one at heart so the more different you look the better. People are very judgmental. I’ve been judgmental. The church is notorious for judging. I think it’s because we lack the understanding of who God really is that we somehow put God in this box and women or people in general are suppose to look like this. God is creative people! I been judged too not by the way I look but by my past mistakes. Sabrina in your a doll ! Heidi we are a lot alike . I’m bull headed by nature and have no problem walking the plank ! 😂 . Good content girls keep it up !

Thank you Heidi for your video and your coffee date with Sabrina. I am a Christian woman, wife, and a mom. I just recently started dressing modestly and wearing head covering/Veiling. I have my nose pierced, my eyebrow is pierced and I have 6 tattoos and I am planning on more tattoos. I don't feel convicted of these things. And I do sometimes wear makeup. Are they really Worldly? That is the big question. And I love that both you Heidi and Sabrina are women who are on the Internet and look like me. God bless you both. Thank you again 🙏🏼❤ P.S. I had my hair colored all kind of colors, Red, Pink, Blue, Green, and more. You are beautiful💜

I think that's too eyecatching and isn't modest. And you don't have to wear a veil, it's about your hair. That's your glory, that's what Paul meant in 1st Corinthians 11, 15.

Hi Heidi, thank you for bringing these controversial topics to the surface!!! Everyone finds them so "taboo" to actually discuss truth through a biblical lense. While watching your video, I thought of wearing makeup or piercings (as seen and created in the world) through the lense of 1 Timothy 2:9: "In like manner, also that women adorn themselves with modest apparel, with shamefacedness and sobriety; not with broided hair, or gold, or pearls..." Typically, these things can "add" to a woman's "attractiveness", not being perceived as being lowly or modest in appearance. Can you share some context to this?

I’m only 45 minutes in and my comment is this .. I had a friend in college that had blue hair and tattoos.. she loved the Lord and went to church, but when she went to conferences ( around people who didn’t know her) they would try to pray her through !! lol lol! She would share the story and we would have a good laugh .. if you see her now, she don’t look like that now her is a natural color and she felt the need to have tattoos removed .. she matured as a person.. I’m not sure .. we were different denomination but we enjoyed each other’s company.. it wasn’t my place to correct t her or her to correct me .. that’s God’s business.. One thing I would like to know is what doctrine do you teach ? Plan of salvation? ( I love your videos) but would like some foundation information

Your January 2024 transcript mentions to not be guest on outward appearance don’t adore yourself with gold etc. so I think that’s where all of the questions are coming from because we were listening to you and then all of a sudden you had a nose ring which doesn’t bother me but I’m just telling you why people were questioning this

I’ve had a nose ring for nearly 20 years? I’ve also always worn earrings and at least a wedding ring. :) The scripture is speaking about where we’re putting our focus - is it on the outward or the internal?

I agree with this, jumping to judgement while we are being judged isn’t okay. I don’t think I can articulate the point we are trying to make here. I get that it’s frustrating to be judged but it will come with the territory and we need to project that attitude and seek the opportunity in these comments from people (while also acknowledging that it does hurt and that the physical assaults like touching someone’s hair or continuing a personal attack is something we do not need to endure. Sometimes we need to dust off our sandals and move on) ❤

My thing is that God made us without nose rings. In 2010, people didn't care about getting them, but now more people get them and it's pressuring people to feel like they need one. As vocal believers, we do not need to be following trends. My thing is that we should love ourselves as we are. As Christians, we don't need to need extra. I have seen some women with nose rings make it part of their identity. It shouldn't be. We should live our lives and let others be themselves. I am not saying this to knock you. I'm just stating that we are fine as we are and without extra things; tattoos included.

This was a great chatty coffee date and it's unfortunate that it had to be talked about especially when we are Christ followers and should know better. Also I am sure there are many that are new to the faith and see those type of comments and behavior can be so discouraging. This Scripture comes to mind and would be a good reminder to those that read comments before commenting themselves to think before speaking/typing. James 3:5-10 in context. Verses 8-10 "but no human being can tame the tongue. It is a restless evil, full of deadly poison. With it we bless our Lord and Father, and with it we curse people who are made in the likeness of God. From the same mouth come blessing and cursing. My brothers, these things ought not to be so." When we speak to one another, is our words being used to build one another up or to tear one another down? Something to think about. We are to show the love of Christ not only to the outside world but also the world of social media. Tfs.

I like your creative hair. It look good on you. Lots of people are wearing different colors. But its about the snap judgement of the commenter who mosy likely was not Godly. Thats my discernment, that the commenter is worldly.
@amandazplace5663
@amandazplace5663 8 ай бұрын
What does "worldly" even mean when Christians use it? I wasn't a Christian til age 26, so I always ask people to define their terms. Arent we all worldly? I mean, we live here, dont we? I find it hard to believe there is such a thing as a Christian who isn't affected by the world. Even if you intentionally do the opposite of the world in some area, your decision is a reaction to the world. 🤷♥️🇨🇦

Some humans are really bold. How incredibly shameless you have to be to pull on a stranger’s hair. I have a question. What about Christians that wear band T shirts? Especially stuff like Led Zeppelin, Rolling Stones, Iron Maiden, etc. I don’t question salvation, but I do wonder where they are in their sanctification process. Also, wow everything Sabrina has endured. God bless you both. I’m pretty new to your channel.

Such a great discussion and I haven’t even heard all of it yet! It makes me think of what Jesus said to the people… “John came neither eating and drinking and they say he has a demon… I came eating and drinking and they say I’m a glutton and drunkard and a friend of sinners.” Even John and Jesus couldn’t win with that Pharisee Spirit! We are to be in the world and not of it… That is far more about what is unseen than what is seen. Being “worldly” is a matter of the HEART and Motives etc. Like Lots wife… We don’t know what it was necessarily that she was longing for but her heart was sadly n the world. And I just have to say… Sabrina you didn’t even have to share all of your reasons for how you wear your hair but I am grateful that you did! I Pray that your vulnerability convicts some hard hearts and they get on their knees to ask for forgiveness. And this is actually the first time I’ve ever seen/heard you and from the first couple of minutes I thought to myself “I LOVE HER!” You communicate so much just with your beautiful face and expressions… You were making me crack-up just from that! Thank You Both Sisters!!!

In Ezekiel 16, 11- 13 is about Jerusalem, not about women's jewelry. And a nosering isn't mentioned there. I am reading the King James Bible 1611. Please always read the context. And if this is Jewish why should I wear a nose ring as a Christian woman? That's what very many unbelievers wear. So we don't make a difference then. 🧐

I also do too and I am not worldly. I m still tied up on that snap judgement from you.

I'm sorry you missed the point of all of that-- you'll note that in tht video we repeatedly pointed back to the fact that the motive and root issue was the focus. It's not "just about" a cup or some pants. It's the roots. That we take before the Lord and work through. If a. Christian is calling another Christian "sinful" or "bad" for owning a cup (and nothing else) that's insanity and wrong. If a sister says "Hey, for those of you stuck in coveting worldly possessions- that's a big root issue that the Lord calls us to handle in a Biblical way." Huuuuuge difference. 😊
