Hey @Leopard Gecko I have had two adult geckos in a 65 gallon for about a year now (no bites or any of that sort) do you think they will be fine? Both are female

Winston Wags I guess they will, as they seem to be totally fine, and females can be fine housed together. Do watch them while feeding though, because one might hog the food. Also, add many hides for them to me comfortable. I’m not an expert lol

@JustMeJo, I see what you're saying, but my one pet peeve with these are when kids get plastic containers and just tape them up, which is quite dangerous! Don't use clear jars, don't use glue/tape in your tank (toxic fumes), don't get a leo before you are ready. It's just cruel.

Going out getting an animal and putting it in awful circumstances and just winging it and seeing if it will survive and maybe then coming around to actually doing some research is not something to promote. At all. And even *if* they were to become good pet owners, their animals can already be damaged irreversibly by what has been done. No. Not okay.

I got my girl last week. She’s been such a great gecko. I have her on eco earth. However, she’s a really clumsy hunter (she’s usually good but has her moments) so I give her a really, really deep dish to eat from! Plus it makes her work for it for some exercise. I love her! She has 4 hides, rocks, a water dish

I use excavator clay and use small pots for plants that I can imbed into the formations, that way not a lot of water ends up on the dried clay. The small amount you spill watering the plants is fine and will dry up in an hour or so. A heavy watering on the clay will turn it into quicksand though!

I think you should try eco earth, because it is much safer, but yes, you can, they might eat it on accident though and there might be worms in the dirt.

@@RemiD123 eco earth is not a good option. It tends to be dusty and hard on their joints and is completely unnatural. Soil or a soil mix is much better for them.

hello! im new to the leo world but just want to add my two cents of the volatile organic compounds (plastic plants/hides being heated up) i actually did an entire science project on VOCs last year and their affect on humans. Basically they’re gases emitted by heated up plastics or cleaning sprays, paints, etc. Everything that humans consume is within legal limits that are pretty strict. However, there have been some connections between people who clean houses for a living and poor health because of VOCs in cleaning products. Although the plastics would emit very low number (like parts per billion of air) because geckos are obviously much tinier than humans i would probably stay away from them just as an extra precautions if using a kind of overhead heating however if that is all you can afford currently i would not worry too too much about them as they are still being studied in the human world.

I love your leopard gecko. I've honestly been thinking a while about maybe eventually getting one. I already bought a few supplies. Then, the other day, I randomly thought of it again after it has been a bit, and I got a second hide (the Penn Plax rock stairs looking one that has a cave in the middle), because it was on sale on Amazon. Anyway, it made me think about starting to look into it again. I think in a certain way, I'd really love it. However, I also think like I would struggle with trying to feed it live worms, crickets, and roaches. I just really don't know if I can get over that. What multivitamin would you recommend for someone getting a leopard gecko with NO UVB lighting. I watched your feeding schedule and supplementing video but I'm still not sure on what to get so my leopard gecko will be happy and healthy

The brand doesn’t really matter as long as one of your supplements has d3. You can use reptivite. You can use herptivite if you have calcium with d3. An all in one supplement is Repashy Calcium Plus, and you can use it every feeding for geckos over six months old and no other supplements are required. If you have separate calcium and multivitamin powders dust with calcium every other feeding and vitamins every three feedings, not every feeding. No supplements in the enclosure.

my leopard gecko honey came from petco, i saw her and i knew i had to adopt her. my first tank was very minimalistic with barely any room and i knew she needed more space. the petco worker had also said they lived in "dry desert landscapes" which is wrong obviously. ive had her since september 21st 2019 and i just recently got her a bigger enclosure and she is so happy now. she has 2 hides, multiple lamps and a decent sized heating pad. as the days go by ill buy more for her, and keep her happy and healthy. thanks to your videos, ive learned more!

Sooo long story short my younger brother went through a period where he was obsessed with reptiles and even said he wanted to become a snake milker 🤣 anyway a couple months in, and he totally becomes disinterested in his gecko or the milking career. The reason why I’ve been on these reptile channels now, is to learn as much as I can about my new leopard gecko ☹️ Unfortunately I cannot afford a huge enclosure so I’m looking for a 20 gallon fish tank that I can later convert into a slide door. He’s currently in a 10 gallon tank. What I did was grab some big flat rocks from outside a restaurant. It’s the rocks that they use to fill in for decorations 😅 I was told that if I put them in the oven it would kill anything that was on it. I also put a little cap of calcium in there and his little warm hide and I also put in a humidity jar. You just have to use your imagination a little. I had to position his water bowl in a way that would allow me to fit everything in there. The point that I was trying to make was that even if you have a small tank you can still work things out!

Hey Rebecca I'm a yearling leopard gecko owner and love my little guy I was wondering just because so many people looking at getting one stumble apon your channel if you could make a video on how to set up a tank on a tight budget but still have them thrive love your channel and even named my gecko after Ziggy

Budget setup that works super well (better than many tank setups): - 28 to 32 qt plastic tub (or larger if you like.. low height is best, like 5 to 6 inches tall) - heat mat that is around 11 x 11 in (look for Flukers or Reptitherm heat mats) - Plastic black hide (RBI sells them, so does Amazon, they are Medium size and perfect, I think brand is Pangea on Amazon, maybe Reptile Basics) - Reptile Prime substrate (Amazon) - Temperature controller (Proportional is best but more costly, Amazon has ON/OFF controllers for $18 to $30 that are good enough) - Other enrichment as you see fit, but not useless stuff like fish tank decor.

There is lots of calcium being wasted 🤔 js they could have a little more space if the calcium dish was smaller 🤗 I absolutely loved the 2 story jungle like set up but I agree it's not a great idea for Leos but would be great for frogs, other types of lizards and maybe even crested geckos but that's pushing it a bit lol but the set up as very very nicely done ☺

I understand why people say to not house two leopards geckos together but it’s honestly completely fine if you have a tank that’s at least 55 gallons and have at least 5 hides as long as they each have there own space it’s fine and I kind of wish more youtubers with go with that instead of saying to never do it

Leopard geckos should never be housed together. They’re solitary animals and don’t benefit at all. It’s very stressful for them (signs of stress are often subtle and not always noticeable). It’s selfish. I’ve seen countless cases of geckos seeming fine for years, then snapping and seriously injuring or killing each other. Not worth the risks at all. Absolutely not. The bare minimum for a single adult leopard gecko is a 20 gallon long, and bigger is better. And leopard geckos should never be housed together.

Yes, a 55 gallon is fine as long as it has plenty of clutter and coverage. There shouldn’t be too much open space. I’d add more hides. Fake plants and branches (for climbing enrichment) are great things to add. Cork rounds are good too

They are a food which leopard geckos can find quite addictive, but are fine to feed every 2-3 weeks maximum as a treat food but should not be fed to leopard geckos under 6 months old

A small problem of mine, when I got my leopard gecko the staff told me that he was in the middle of shedding, and normally was a vibrant orange. When I received him, I noticed that there were dark grey, dry-looking patches on the top of his head and his tail, along with the eyes. The gecko does not open its eyes unless I am handling it, and it doesn't eat, perhaps due to fear or picky. When I watched your video, you said the skin was supposed to be white. However, mine is a shade much darker then white and does not look like it will fall off. He is currently chilling in a makeshift humid hide I created, but im worried that something may be wrong with his skin. If somebody could help me out, this would be great. I've never seen him drink water either, but he seems to know its there.

Now, currently, I am in possession of another, much healthier leopard gecko, who hates me a little more than the previous one. Hey rebecca and community, I'm having a minor issue with my crested gecko. I've got her in a bioactive enclosure with some live and some fake plants, organic soil and cocofibre substrate and some real poplar branches I treated in the oven. I feed her CGD every night before I go to bed and remove it each morning, she usually only eats every other day. The issue I'm having is with fruit flys, they are everywhere and seems to only be growing in number. What can I do to get rid/reduce the number of them?

Cactus spines could hurt the gecko. Besides, cacti are arid plants that need low humidity. They wouldn’t do well in a tropical environment.

christmas/easter/thanksgiving cacti are completely safe. They have no spines. Rebecca even mentioned those specifically in one of her videos but would be best in a leopard gecko tank not a crested. A bromeliad would be good for you if you want some color

I have a lepoard gecko that I transitioned from carpet to coconut fiber ,she dosent seem to really enjoy moving around shes a rescue and dosent like petting and handling , do you think I should keep her on carpet shes always been on or how can I help her transition ? Thank you love the channel

Quarantine on paper towel for the first six weeks. Give him at least a week to settle in before you start taming him. Don’t be concerned if he doesn’t eat for the first few days or weeks (unless he shows signs of illness like a shrinking tail).
