Awesome! I have biracial twins with totally different hair textures. I tried chemically straightening the hair of one of them bcuz it was so coarse, a real 1970's fro going on. I wish I never touched it. First it thinned out, then it was so damaged that I had to cut it. I don't know how to braid, and it was to short to plait. The only thing I could do was blow dry and flat iron it. But five minutes later it was frizz. If I left it natural, there were pieces that were straight at the end. So finally last night I was so sick of it that I cut those scraggly ends off myself! After she fell asleep I stumbled across your video! Yay! Finally something that I can do with her hair! I did a quick version bcuz she had to get to school. And I don't like the products I have, so I am off to the store to pick up what you use, and hopefully it will come out even better. Thanks so much for your videos!

Naptural85 also gives great tips as well. Keep watching these vids to educate yourself. Having coarse hair is not bad if you do not fight against. Do what is best for your daughters hair so you can teach them.

I love natural hair! It's like, all the things you couldn't use or do before you can now do. I mean, I would have never raked gel through my hair when I was relaxed, and now that I'm natural I can do just about anything to achieve a bomb style! There's such a sense of freedom all around. At the same time there are a lot of things to remember and a lot of steps to take so that you don't break your hair off, but I still enjoy caring for my hair and being able to wash and go like this. Thanks for sharing!

Super cute wash n go!!!! I'm glad to see I'm not the only one who applies gel this way; at the root and a LOT of gel. For some curlies it's not always the alcohol in gels that can be drying to the hair. Its the Hydrolyzed Wheat Protein (in Eco Styler) or other proteins in other gels. For this very reason, I switched from the Eco Styler Olive Oil to WetLine Xtreme Gel.

Love it! I'm glad you found the process that works for you! I think wash n gos help my hair grow more than twist outs and braid outs. Not sure why, but my theory is that the gel helps to seal my ends so I don't have as much breakage. Plus, with my hair more separated, I don't get as much matting. It could just be the length of my hair. I think it rubs against my clothes and stuff so much that it gets tangled.

I've showed your videos to some of my friends who have been considering going natural and they've loved you and are going to do it really soon with a chop. I said the most important thing was having some natural inspirations and trying things and your videos helped me try things and hopefully it can help them or they can find their own natural inspiration but I'm glad to see your wash n go and I'm going to have to invest in some alcohol free gel (never tried gel before) so thanks for this.

It took me 5yrs of buying products to make my curls pop bc I hated gel. I started using gel and I never looked backed. I use Paul Mitchell The Conditioner as my Leave-In and mix my favorite oils with any ECOStyler Gel. My hair pop with soft, moisturized Curls that are never dry or crunchy and last for more than a week. I apply it and dry it just like you do. Always good hair days bc it never fails!

I use to do wash-n-gos way back when I was first going natural and I got bad knots. I have a looser hair texture than yours and ugh I have a pet peeve about knots lol, so I had to stop doing the wash-n-gos. its to much work for it no to last as long and create knots..I also don't find it a good hairstyle if trying to retain length. I now do flat twist outs. Nice video

That came out so pretty! For me I find the W&G is just not worth it, too much product (for my sensitive scalp that likes to breath) takes more time than twist/braid outs and way too many ssk. I can get awesome definition with twist/braid outs and they're healthier for my hair too, meaning I don't need to trim as soon. I love the look of leave in cond (Hair Dew), seal oil (evoo), and then a styling butter (Camille Rose Curlaide) and then a nice silky smooth moisture butter like As I Am double butter and then tension blow drying my hair (holding a few inches from the ends, do not blow the ends) on warm or cool air and going out the door. Thats like a wash a go but not super defined so it looks more natural but my hair is stretched so less tangles and knots and my hair is super soft and moisturized and big! Give that a try!

P.S.: I also love blow drying my roots, but immediately get that fear of heat damage, so I try to stay away from it . . . but I end up doing it again anyway because my wash and goes look so great when I do it. Can't wait until my hair gets to a point where I'm okay with the shrinkage. Right now my shrinkage looks as if I am still in the TWA phase, so I HAVE to get some length somehow!

Thank you!! Yah I actually want to try flax seed gel soon. Is that what you make?
@BreeDarcel10 жыл бұрын
Mini Marley Yeah! I actually really love it to slick down my hair for puffs (my staple style), but I'm not sure if it would work well for wash-n-go's...I learned the recipe from ***** but I'm sure it's all over the net. I really prefer using all natural products so I actually did some research after watching your video and bought some Giovanni L.A. Natural Styling Gel. It's supposed to have a lot of hold, which is why I think the ecostyler works so well at defining curls. I'm going to use that with your method and we'll see how it goes! Good luck with the flax seed gel. It's kind of cool to make the first time around. Lol ^_^

Why is it called a wash and go when it involves intricate sections and tons of gel? It's beautiful, but it's work. Wash and go should be in the shower, shampoo, condition, air dry and go...

I feel the same way, My wash and go takes about 35-45 minutes, curly girl problems, however It lasts me 3-5 days.
@Qylon10 жыл бұрын
@cheryl. Some textures just require more work. Also depending on length as well. I have a similar texture to MiniMarley and when I tried your suggested method, my hair was a dry tangled mess. I tried Marleys' method yesterday and although it's more work, my curls are defined and moisturized. It all depends on your texture and length.
