I can understand why surgeons would utilize individual sutures when dealing with surface issues, but is it more important to stop all movement of underlying tissue while it repairs or could the right running stitch hold it together but allow more normal movement and possibly reduce pain ?

Hi, thanks for the videos! Not sure if this is the case for other surgical specialties, but in neurosurgery, when we are closing deep fascia, we actually do not invert our knots. We typically throw deep fascial stitches with the knot superficial so we can approximate the edges as tightly as humanly possible and close the subfascial space.

Where can I get this skin pad? It seems the most realistic out of all the ones I've seen.

The company that sells this one is called SurgiReal. I bought mine on their website (I have no financial relationship with the company, just a fan).

What's the reasoning for burying the knot under the facia when the knot will already be deep to the skin and likely dermal layer closure? Also, sometimes I do figure of 8 sutures in the facia.

I am wondering where to get those suturing pads from? I have some from internet, but the layers are not defined, basically is one or two layers of silicone. Please let me know, so I am preparing my surgical skill exam. thanks a lot.

Hi there, Thanks for your informative videos. I just had a question, would a lock-stitch suture also be appropriate for deep fascia repairs? Thanks
@minimedlessons Жыл бұрын
Yes, it absolutely can be appropriate. It’s hard to do if there’s a lot of tension because the fascia is gaping, but yes, it can be done.
