So as much as it's athletically impressive and the plots are cute, it's all pointless at the end. It seems like the viewers have absolutely no idea how professional wrestling actually works so I’ll do some explaining here. WWE stands for World Wrestling Entertainment, keyword here being “Entertainment”. There‘s more to it than just wrestling. A huge part of it are the storylines and rivalries, that make the product even more entertaining. Matches aren’t random, they’re built over time and either end or even further the storyline. The audience is fully invested. So in order for you to properly understand the weight of a big match, you need to know the even bigger background. Now this sounds a lot like movies, right? And yet no one is complaining about them being “fake”. But that’s not the only difference. In wrestling there are no stuntmen and no soft mats to safely and comfortably land onto. The ring floor is made out of hard wood. The moves still hurt, they just make sure each match doesn’t end up as a death sentence. Many wrestlers have either had their careers shortened or even permanently ended because of slight mistakes during execution of those moves. Some unfortunate people have even lost their lives. There is a reason they tell you to not try this at home so please have some respect for them.

WWE is supposed to be "fake". It is how well the performers can sell the product, that is where actual skill and training come into the picture. Like how there are great and not so great actors, it is similar to that.The moves hurt and they have to follow the storyline LIVE at the moment and improvise if ever anything goes wrong. Also, I think it is a rule that none of the performers are allowed to say anything that would imply that WWE is sport not sports entertainment, there is where the difference lies.

Best way to put it is like this- while the finishes are scripted they still will change the ending even during the match depending on the crowd, and the moves are real, they have formed a technique on each move to make it as safe as they can but WWE out of all sports has the highest death rate due to deaths involved with injuries from the sport. It’s a art form more then a sport but still is a combat sport

Brock Lesnar was in the UFC and WWE, and he said that being in the WWE is 10x more difficult due to the amount of physical effort needed during the whole year, and that man is literally called “ The Alpha Male of Our Species “.

If you're going to seriously watch and enjoy Wrestling, you can't watch it as a 'fighting sport'. You have to go into it as if it's a really long episodic tv show that has gone on for decades and has amazing characters. Ultimately no one really cares about the flippy shit anymore cause everyone can do it, the characters are what makes the show. Getting sucked into a match because you really want the good guy to beat the bad guy is what wrestling is all about, and not knowing who will win. It's like going to a live play with good story telling, and there also happens to be people 'fighting'.
