I *think* it’s more of a big city and maybe a southern thing. In London basically no one will talk to you on the streets unless they’re old from my experience. In the country, people might be talkative depending on who you are, I find being mixed race gets me hostile looks in village / small town settings but out on walks and stuff everyone’s friendly and says hi, in the Peak District for example. Up in Leeds, people are more friendly and more likely to talk to you!
