Thank you for taking the time to make this video! Like yourself I operate a one man owner operater placer mine in the Yukon, and know exactly where your coming from trying to do everything single handed. I'd love to do something similar but the time and computer skills ain't there! If I could make a suggestion for future episodes next season, please show some completed reclamation and amount of time and effort it takes to accomplish it.Just to show what we actually do vrs what is seen on Gold Rush.

Hey Paul thanks for stopping by the channel. I personally would struggle doing a 1 man operation up in the Yukon!!! Alot longer travel for parts and fuel, I am a little spoiled because I am only 30 minutes away from everything I need. Thanks for your thoughts on reclamation, this coming mining season I will do a ton of videos showing our sites from 8 years ago to the present day ones. The editing process is so much work... my winter vlog videos I am doing takes me almost 2 weeks of editing on 2 hours of of fabrication lol. I am only a month into doing this but a guy had to try:) I would love to do a visit to the Yukon one day? It's on my bucket list. Cheers

Could you explain the geology and the interpretations of glacial morraine gold deposits? I've seen massive terminal morraines at the south end of Flathead Lake, massive piles of water worn cobbles from the meltoff of the massive continental glacier terminus.
@TheMiningChannel
@TheMiningChannel Жыл бұрын
For sure!! I have a video coming out in a couple of months all about it. There is a lot of areas on a maraine that can be richer then the moraine itself. Melteater channels parallel to the lateral moraine are usually the richest in my area. My claim doesn't have a terminal moraine and is upstream, thise can be rish also. The moraine itself carries gold also, just a big mix of the meterial. I'll get into it more in that video. Thanks for watching:)

Great video! How do you know that a glacier transferred tertiary channel gravels up the mountainside? What testing did you do to figure that out?
@TheMiningChannel
@TheMiningChannel 2 жыл бұрын
Hey Nicholas. This area is known for this type of deposit, the layering of pebbles, sands and cobble follow the bedrock contours whether they are 10° or 80°. There is are no flat layering on my claim where this meterial is deposited. The many reports about this claim say it is tertiary but I think it is just interglacial gravels mixed with yearly glacial melt forming the layers(I'm no geologist lol) I still want to get you out one day to do a area on the valley bottom. I had a tough year waiting on permits and couldn't afford much..

Hey bud, I have well under 100 k Canadian into the entire setup, I did that by buying broken down equipment and fixing them up along with building the trommel and misc. I will have a breakdown video of it coming up soon. Thanks for stopping by the channel!

Which gold hog mat do you use?
@TheMiningChannel
@TheMiningChannel 2 жыл бұрын
Hey there. I use a mixture of most the mats. Bedrock, talon, motherload and razorback. I start tall up top and taper down to the smallest mat on the bottom. They work excellent in dirty water and clay meterial.
@Golden_B1
@Golden_B1 2 жыл бұрын
@@TheMiningChannel how wide is the matting and how many yards an hour you run and what size gravel ?
@TheMiningChannel
@TheMiningChannel 2 жыл бұрын
@@Golden_B1 The sluice box total width is 6 feet wide. The mats are in 3 foot wide sections which Doc from gold hog doesn't suggest( I just havnt had a chance to put dividers in but should be 18" wide) A guy gets alot of scouring in the mats with the wider sections. This meterial we run is mostly sand "without" alot of black sands. My input volume into the trommel is 40-50 yph with 1/2 classification onto the main box.

@@TheMiningChannel something i forgot to ask is how much water you pump trough the sluice for that yardage? Thanks
@TheMiningChannel
@TheMiningChannel 2 жыл бұрын
@@Golden_B1 Not sure on exact GPM but I do supply the box with a 6" line. I would think around 600-800 GPM?????? That is just a complete guess though hahah. I have tried less water and gold gets blown out, Any more water and the pressure just becomes to much in my hopper and sprays out the sides.

Congrats was hoping you’d start a channel why no employees (at least one ) to help run equipment? Not profitable? What months are your mining season every year ? Great job on editing being a creator isn’t easy looking forward to many more vids to come thanks for sharing see you on the next one 👍🏼👊🏼

Hey there. I had 1 employee at the beginning on the year but had to lay him off, I waited on permits most the year and by the time I got the paperwork I had to keep it tight to save as much money for the remainder of the season. The snow at this site is gone June 1st but we usually bust into the site in March or April when there is 6-8 feet of snow. Our typical shutdown dat is end of October.

@@TheMiningChannel good ol permits thanks for the info that’s a lot of snow so you start clearing the site so it’s thawed by June and ready to roll nice can’t be easy trying to support a family that way but I know a guy that does it just working a claim without heavy equipment so it’s obviously possibly medium scale how long you think the claim will support mining 3-5 years ? Over here (USA) claims are usually 20 acres (close to 81 k meters) is that about the same up there?
@TheMiningChannel

@@48thstateprospecting I have 320 hectares on this site but not all of it is minable. Each cell up here is 20 hectares. I think the minelife here is 5-10 years at this scale. I have larger equipment but don't wish to run it. It is so nice to not feel rushed and just enjoy it all.
