Has the land been reclaimed for some other purpose?

Awful loss to the economy of the area. there is talk of zinc mining in the Fermoy-Ballyhooly area in the coming years. Would be great for the area. Bring plenty jobs. Good jobs for ordinary people. Too much of this craic the govermnent saying there is loads of jobs when it is all just big swanky jobs for computer experts in Facetube and Yahoo above in Dublin. Mining would be a huge injection of jobs and cash for supporting businesses in the area.

Lovely film footage. It is a pity that the narrator is speaking that obsolete gobbledygook

Yes, it would be more useful if narrated in English, but it should be stressed that a lot of Irish language programmes were made on a low budget, and only exist for that reason. Without this format, we would never have got this little documentary. I never realised that the ore was shipped from Foynes as far as the US, always assumed it went somewhere closer, ie in Europe. Can anyone remember when Silvermines closed, was it the 90s?

Now now... Stop crying... Anyone can add subtitles to this. The language might be "obsolete" now but not forgotten.
@williambinions420522 күн бұрын
@@rnvaamonde better off if it is forgotten. A huge amount of taxpayers money is squandered trying to. Teach children Irish when they are never going to use it. It is ridiculous that it is compulsory. Hopefully now that this country is becoming more multicultural ( again) the government will see sense and just make it optional
