In May 2008 Christine France from Cedr; Rotherham College brought together young people from Wath Comprehensive school; former Cortonwood Wood, Manvers Main and Wath miners, and their families, the local communities and professionals from the Mining Musuem Wakefield to create a visual historical record that would capture the real heart of working (and striking!) in the coal industry and living in a mining community

Brings back memories from when I worked in the coal mines. Was hard work . Would like to see this snow flake generation if they had to work in them

Your generation raised this "snowflake" generation. Remember that.

It would frighten the tits off a current health and safety inspector - 50 odd years ago, we broke every rule in the book but kept safe by good pit sense. Every man looked out for his workmates and we got the job done

You raised the snow flake gen lad, I can also guarantee most of them are smarter than you ever were and most work harder, if they were born in ancient rome like you were they would have worked just as hard as you. give it a rest and get something out of life.

When you sat pealing an orange , grapefruit, or an uglyfruit, and suddenly you're surrounded with your mates, of course, most of us would share it. Just like when you opened your snuff tin and fingers would come from every direction. I miss those times. Now look at the crap where in ? Enjoy your cheap electricity electricity ! 🤔👍🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿

I remember one lad bringing down fish and chips in some type of thermos - he was not popular with the lads downwind trying to enjoy their dried up cheese butties

I left the pit to join the RAF best move I ever did. Working down a pit is unnatural.

30 inch, 300 yards long and a gradient of 1 in 0.9 I would not have fitted into a 23 inch seam .... I had a 54inch chest back then and I was a tight fit in 30 inches
