13:50 I think the golden disk is a reference to the voyager record. Basically put info, songs, sounds, and pictures of earth on the voyager probes in a vague hope that someday some far off civilization would find the probes floating in space.

Mining in space is actually really hard, because the consistency of asteroids is not (for lack of a better word) consistent across all asteroids. A lot of asteroids are just piles of rubble in space, held together loosely by gravity in the absence of any other force. Think of the surface of the moon, and how easily the the surface was imprinted with the Apollo astronauts boot prints, because the surface is a really fine material. The problem with mining asteroids is that with the slightest applied force, all that fine grain and powder like material will fly away. The OSIRIS-REx spacecraft from NASA was able to collect a small sample by using a small blast of air to blow away the dusty surface of the asteroid Bennu and catch the material floating around in a container that opened to let some of the material float in then closed again.

the story of that disc is that it was a record from the 80's sent out into deep space in an attempt to make contact with aliens
@davehart38602 жыл бұрын
Ummm yeah,,,it wasn't in an attempt to make contact,,it was if contact just stumbled upon it,which we all know in the vastness of space those odds are pretty astronomical

Newtonian mode would mean using Newtonian physics so instead of the very simple physics right now you'd be playing with real physics instead which means everything in motions a little bump can cause you or the object to go fly in a different direction etc so it would act like it would in real space based on Newtons Laws of physics hence why its called "Newtonian" which means your mining pod there wouldn't just stop you'd have to slow down and match speed with the asteroid your trying to mine (if they properly added Newtonian physics that is)
