Ugh I wish I had glued the eggs bc I accidentally dropped it and it all broke apart & the eggs are gone forever now😢.

That’s a male cardinal. Males are red and females are brown.

I thought about that after I said it. They made this inaccurate, we all know the male bird isn't sitting with the eggs...lol

@@KitchenBricks Lol. In a way I guess it could be somewhat accurate. If something happens to the female the male will sit on the eggs. Cardinals take very good care of their babies. I’m somewhat of an amateur birder. That plus I have many generations of cardinals living around my house.

@@ErinRenee1990 That's awesome! I just assumed they have no business tending to their young. I should know more about Cardinals, after all I live in Illinois and that's our state bird.

You are correct @ErinRenee1990 males are red but that doesn't mean the male cardinal doesnt tend to the young. The male will sit on the eggs while the female goes in search of food. Since the eggs are smaller they cool fast and the mother may need to be gone for a hour and that will be too long and her chicks would die so the parents both sit on the eggs. If one of the parents dies the other starves itself to keep the eggs warm so either that is a male letting his mate eat or its a starving man taking care of his kids

The bird house is cute. I might glue the sides together and to the base and then the top together along the ridge line (not glueing the roof to the sides at all). The best is cute, but it’s a bit too large.
