If the openbox offer was the regular price then it would have value and be competitive. But with the one key difference between others being the fanless design, which comes with it's own hazard of a scorching hot surface, it doesn't stand out. You forgo to mention that the front USB-A ports are not simply USB 3 but USB 3.2 Gen 2, with 10Gb speed, which should b a bonus especially with the option to add decently fast external storage via an NVME adapter.

Sad they locked the bios..would of made this product alittle more interesting...i guess it serves the purpose of the manufacturer..let's hope they work on the cons in their next version..would be interesting to see how another operating system run on it.. thanks nick..😁😁😁👍👍👍

@@tvboxstopEasy enough to unlock the bios, just disable secure boot until after installation. I've installed Linux, LibreElec (flash drive) and BlissOS... all bootable, only Linux is worth bothering with though.

The bios lock do not care about it. Its a UEFI bios So in windows self you can adjust it. This how. Go to Settings > Update & Security > Recovery > Advanced Startup > Restart now.😊 select Troubleshoot > Advanced options > UEFI Firmware Settings. 🎉 After making the above selections, the computer will enter into the Aptio Setup Utility where you can make changes to the UEFI BIOS. 😮

You can enter the bios by simply tapping the delete button. However, when you go through the installation process of Android x86 it completes successfully, but the bios is not listing it as a drive to boot into. Not even as an boot overwrite option. There is a secret bios advance option by pressing Ctrl + F1, but it still doesn't show the grub for booting. So it's not like you cannot access the bios.

Did your BIOS have C-States enabled? Early shipments, the manufacturer mistakenly defaulted it to disabled. Enabling it results in better performance.

Check the newest BIOS from March: "Fixed grub2 command "fwsetup" to boot to EFI Setup". I suppose it can solve your problem with another OS? This MiniPC works very well with f.i. Ubuntu booted from pendrive.

I am not sure. It does not have a built-in microphone so a USB mic will be required. Most smart home features operate using far field commands.

Really its not a great thing. Other models use ddr5 . Both ddr5 and 4 are singel Channel mode. But the ddr5 is really faster than ddr4 and the igp and cpu use both the same ddr for memory use

@@tvboxstop o yes i do think so. My self use a gigabyte Cube with a Ryzen 4300u. Fast and for emulator thanks to de the amd igp Run just fine. And last i rebeuld a Asus cn60 i3 4010u android box to a Windows 10 machine. Even that run fine. This machine and its cpu is about 2x times faster than my i3 . So for a tv box streaming machine with a option for emulator. This will run it.

DDR5 would not increase speed of this MiniPC in any significant way (it would be faster only about +5%), it's because of the Intel N100 processor. This has been already tested by Robtech on his channel on few different PCs of this kind. This MiniPC in fact IS a thing, when you compare it to other, actively cooled MiniPCs with the same processor available on the market. It gives you the same performance, but makes no noise at all. Perfect thing for many people. It's also not bad in terms of speed, faster than older laptops like Lenovo T460 for instance ....

@@Wojtek-J no its not. If you use it for games emulator. Than you need more speed. Look its like this. Singel channel slot 3200mhz A igp is connect it with a 32bit from the 64bit channel . So systeem switch what your need. In a game the cpu and igp use the same singel channel for the memory. This way it can that your speed will be 3200 :2 and you have 1600 for the gpu and 1600 to the cpu. Well today its all connect to on bus on the cpu bridge in the chip. But to the same way and is more flexible. So it can move more data to the gpu or cpu if it need it Well dual channel mode means 2x3200mhz = 6400Mb per sec So thare is more room for cpu and igp to use in games. If you only use for streaming tv series . Than yes you can use a singel channel mode. Now ddr5 vs ddr4. Ddr4 singel can do 3200 (DDR4-3200 (PC4-25600) DDR5-4000 (PC5-32000) Wel de n100 have a support for DDR5-4800 (PC5-38400) In dual channel it dubbel it. You see that ddr5 singel performance is more and faster than the ddr4.
