My family had a plexiglass fence around our pool. So we can still see the kids swimming but they cant jump in whenever they want (also the dogs its not very nice when you go to let your dog in the house and they’re drenched from swimming haha) we went with a custom one so that the wood planks arent so far apart. So the planks are about a foot and a half apart and has plexiglass panels between wood. I dont know if mink would be able to climb this type of fence or if it would even be feasible for you but thought I’d let you know what works for us as a fence with viewing access :)
@dragonpantersr

Yeah thought the same. Plexi glass, make it into an easy to replace sliding in type of construct. So when its gets too banged up you just replace that part.

It looks like there's a lot of options in plain sheets as well. Might be more expensive overall, but the visual distortion would also be non-existent. Not sure on the price/value/strength of different materials like acrylic vs polycarbonate.

Darthmaulnut YT Ed’s homebase is in Chicago, but he travels all over the states helping build ponds. Aquascape has certified contractors spread all over the USA. If you live in or close to a decent sized city there is probably someone who builds ponds using aquascape products. So chances are that the guy in the original comment probably doesn’t have to travel far to get into the business. Hell aquascape does training so you can start a business building ponds.

Perspex, maybe? It's the best type of acrylic you can get. Should give you all the benefits of glass, but is much cheaper and potentially safer, as it can flex and won't shatter into millions of pieces if it does get broken. Sending much love to you all; awesome to see you kicking 2020 in the nuts and progressing with MinkLand again. 😊
@SuperDraconas
@SuperDraconas 4 жыл бұрын
I wouldn't recommend glass, as it can magnify the sun's rays and increase the overall temperature inside once you've got the enclosure completely finished. Since you're thinking about eventually possibly giving Raptor the run of it during the day, you'd also need a top to prevent him from climbing and escaping out of it. The best bet would probably be to use some heavy gauged 1/4" or 1/2" mesh wiring, as it'll provide ventilation and sunlight to come through while retaining structural stability when attached to wooden railings/posts/et cetera, as well as the added bonus of not having to worry about cleaning it.

True I use to have a chicken wire back yard fence I loved it cause I could see the creek but still keep out coyotes. An keep my dogs safe. But I don't think he wanted a ceiling cause he showed the garden an I believe said they would prefer to have an open top.

Me 💭 how about a good sturdy plastic? That you can see through, like fiber glass if you will. I’ve seen partitions that are bendable. But it may be a issue with glare. Or sectionals, Too bad you can't see what I’m suggesting. Hopefully someone else can better explain my thoughts. I think you’d want to access whatever section you want w/o going in and out. Or a lot of movement. Maybe another thing like the screened magnets, waist high. But you have control. A few you can see through a few screen material a few plastic, but able to move as you need. With an alarm. Incase the girls wonder with out supervision. Anyway I hope you find what you need.

I've seen plenty of comments saying plexiglass/acrylic and I wholeheartedly agree. I volunteered at a zoo for some years and we kept all the small animals behind plexi-glass. And cleaning it is easy enough, just gotta hose it down a couple times a week. Also, a cobblestone-like wall would look pretty good, although the kiddos might be able to climb it more easily.

I just saw that you are almost to 1M subscribers! Holy cow your channel has drastically grown since I started following. And I knew nothing about mink and you are a true educator and I’ve learned so much. I wish I could own some.

This is amazing!!! How relaxing to be able to sit out there, listen to the water flow and watch your Mink play in their new surrounding.

Transparent Aluminium, strong and thin, if it can hold Whales in a space ship your little girls will be safe :) On a serious note, I cannot think of anything, but I think your Minkland Pond is an amazing addition, cannot wait to see how your Mink take to training in it.
