If you search Special Relativity on youtube you'll get thousands of videos but they are as shallow as the depth of their thumbnail.. This series is one of the very few which really pulls out the essence of the theory.. Loved it..

A great lecture. I have never come across such a clear explanation...For sure, instructor knows the subject and not just that he also knows what he is able to articulate it very well..A must watch for those interested in this subject which binds Physics and maths to take us away from common sense as defined by our perceptual senses...

Please never lose the blackboard. I have found that being able to track the previous equations while you talk about the current equations is indispensible to understanding. You are the best science communicator I've seen, but the fact that you keep most of the equations visible as you carefully explain each one is a boon. Trying to follow other science communicators I have found to be difficult because they move from equation to equation, each as its own title card, and I get lost. (I have ADHD.)

Thank you for posting this!!! I slipped through about half of this trying to find a particular point and skimmed through things along the way. Those tidbits coincide with what I was trying to figure in my head the other night. More importantly, suddenly the book I read circa middle school by Kaufman suddenly makes sense! He referred to diagrams and such with Gaussian curvature and more or less dropped it past positive vs negative curvature. Parts of his stuff never made sense to me. Now that I see this, and seeing exactly where at least parts of this fits into Einstiens field equations, now I can make mathematical sense out of this and see why the Gaussian curvature is used in astrophysics and related fields! Case and point where some go into every last uber formal theory and never show you how to do the problem. The way you write it, you get the theory, problem and application in one sensible shot. Thank you!!!

I know it doesn't matter in the big picture, but for hyperbolas drawn about the "y-axis" (i.e. ct-axis) (having y-intercepts not x-intercepts) the parabola equation is y^2 - x^2 = 1 (simplest form with a and b both 1) . We really should refer to the one drawn here as (ct)^2 - x^2 = s^2. That is the one that represents the graph. Tnx
