Having seen what Mink can do in the wild when they become a super predator nothing is off of their menu , get one in your chicken pen & it’s good by chickens same with pheasants & on a Trout fishery they are bad news , they hunt in every terrain , I have shot them & boy get one in a trap & boy they become ferocious ball of teeth & sharp claws , I have always admired them & often thought in my Ferreting days that a tamed Mink would have been an awesome Rabbit catcher but never thought anyone could tame a Mink to do this , then along came Joseph the Minkman not only tames Mink but uses them in his pest control work just as I would have used a Ferret , this guy & what he does with Mink is amazing !

Unless there was a second experiment, I'm pretty sure that you're thinking of the research they did on foxes that resulted in breeding domesticated fox. A very cool experiment that also showed that floppy ears and white patterning might be markers for domestication, as the foxes started showing these traits in subsequent generations after the first few were selected for domestication behavior (lack of fear/agression). By the 15th generation, they produced "hyper domesticated" foxes that were highly dependent on human companionship and interaction, and very actively sought it out. They ultimately started selling the surplus domestic fox pups internally under the Sib Fox company banner. However, it's reasonable to extrapolate that similar results might be replicated in other mammals, including mink. If we compare recently domesticated animal species with their wild counterparts, behavior differences can be really extreme, and considering how similar mink are to ferrets, which have been domesticated as pets successfully, it's easy to see how a dedicated breeding program selecting strongly for behavior could produce friendly mink within a comparatively small number of generations.

I've had ferrets for years before switching to cats ( no reason just the pet that came up next) and I just love mustelids! I imagine Mink take more time and patience ( Ferrets have been domesticated for millenia- like dogs) so I encourage people to adopt a ferret in need of a home and start your own business!

Yup. He’s great. I wonder if he got a monk with the same genetic mutation that occurs in rarely humans and dogs. That mutation makes them loving and lovable. Layer that onto the mink basic programming, and you have a success story. It’s inheritable. Wolves lack this mutation. But all dogs have it. And a very few humans have the same mutation. Matching DNA and affect. In humans of all races, their faces bear the same distinct markers. You can tell a person with this mutation by looking at them. Not just by behaviour alone. I believe SCI SHOW did a KZbin video on the mutation.

People have claimed to tame pigs. Some even keep them as pets with no problem. But pigs revert back very quickly. Same can be said for any animal. Dogs are even knoqwn revert. I'm happy he accomplished what he did but IMO this is the outlier not the normal.
