It's happening, it's finally happening! My oldest son is a senior this year, and for his senior project he is going to be restoring a Minneapolis Moline ZTS with my uncle! Right now they are deep into tearing it apart, then they will diagnose any obvious issues, and finally put paint it and put it all back together. It will be a full restoration!

It’s going to be a pretty cool (and educational) project. But, the best part is getting to work with his great uncle!

We had a ZA on our dairy farm in N.E. Pa. We liked it. It had 38" rears and a wide front end.

That’s awesome! I’m not sure what the rears are on this one … I do know that there was only one 😬 But, my uncle has located a new set of wheels and my son will be applying for a grant for tires

Looks like a lot of work. Great content on the channel for sure. Maybe give Caleb a camera to record when you can’t make it. Looking forward to see the progress.

He did set-up a time lapse the other day that was pretty cool! He’s he going to keep doing that and then we’ll put them together so we can see the whole thing 😁

I need to get my '38 ZTU started. You said Southern Iowa? We're over by Donnellson

That sounds like a great tractor! We’re in southern Iowa, but the tractor and shop is in central Iowa at my uncles.

Yes, please keep posting. I've got my wife's great grandfathers 1st tractor, a '41 JD H. that has a hand clutch and certainly took some getting use to. Now you said it was his sr. project. Is that something to do with school? Is he still going to go to JD tech school?

That’s awesome that you have that John Deere H. My family did have some John Deere’s, but I believe they are all part of my cousins collection now. We homeschool our kids and he has finished up most all of his required school, so this year he is working a little and exploring his interests. As for the JD Tech school … it’s up in the air. A lot of decisions to be made for a senior!

Looks like an awesome project. Hopefully an affordable one, but things add up quickly these days.

They can add up quickly. Thankfully there are some restoration grants available, and also possibly a tire grant as well which will help. The paint though … that will be pricy because I think he’ll end up going with automotive quality.
