The problem is: Times have changed. Robot Voices were nice back then but the companies can’t stay stagnant on this! And in the time of AI, every Vocaloid has to get a AI Voice which sounds more realistic

But it's not forbidden or impossible to skip steps that increase quality, or to use older software, or to put the voice samples through a blender if you like how that sounds. I, personally, really like robotic voices and I wish more creators embraced awkward pronunciations and rough transitions between notes

For me Teto also sounds way different. There's just a hint of her original voice left imo, and when she has to sing more powerfully it's just a new voice altogether. Miku still sounds like Miku to me but probably bc she has so many different uses and tuning styles that it isn't as surprising to hear her sound weird and different.

No, her voice provider has always been Haruna Ikezawa, in her garageband voicebank her audios are modified so that the pitch is on an F4, so many of the samples sound more mature

A lot of the characters here also are on way more software than shown here, but for some reason only Yukari was shown on all of the softwares. Like, for example Teto has vbs for Renoid player, and Talqu, and Sora has vbs for voiceroid and and Voicepeak just to make a few. Also I would not say that most of these characters changed softwares, but they rather have expanded in my opinion

Honestly I think her voice fits with her concept. I feel like users REALLY forget that she is based on the concept of an ACTUAL Flower. And seeing as how a Flower is both female and male it would only make sense for this version of Flower to sound more feminine. (Plus, Ci Flower was meant to sound different than her VOCALOID voicebanks, just so that way her voice was much more versatile)

ci flower isn't really the same character though, her new company, which is different than flower's, markets her as "another if" of flower. there's an interview where they said she's supposed to be a new flower but from a parallel world. EDIT: I remembered that I made this comment and wow this got way more attention than I thought it would so I will add this lol. Ci flower's official twitter (which recently became in-character) made this statement in a reply, which I translated here: "Both v flower and current me exist, with the differences included, and I would be happy if you were to keep loving both. I want to promote and uplift v flower to the extent that I can in my current position."

Fun fact: Kasane Teto’s VA, Mayo Oyamano, was around the same age as Teto in chimera years (15.5) when she first recorded voice samples for her Utau voicebank, and close to the same age as Teto in human years (31) when she recorded voice samples for her Synth V voicebank!😃😄 Teto’s voice got an amazing upgrade as her voice actress grew into an adult! 😁😀 And I can hear hints of her Utau voice in her Synth V voice (though her old UTAU voice is pretty iconic, adorable, and energetic (Albeit understandably robotic) and is perfect for upbeat, silly, and lighthearted denpa and pop songs!😊 While her Synth-V voice is better for powerful songs and rock or pop-rock songs)

I think it's because YANHE's vocaloid voice was actually planned for Zhiyu Moke, which is why it sounds so boyish. They probably changed her vb to sound more like a female voice

I think part of the charm of vocaloid has always been the robotic sound and how you can play that up or down as a producer. I can't imagine the more realistic voices getting very popular, to be honest

I'm beginning to realize that I really am an older vocaloid fan than I thought. Honestly I feel most of the vocaloid voices were probably the better ones and captured the essence of the vocaloid. Like IA's Cevio one was just total surpise.... that is not the IA I know and love lol. It didn't feel the same anymore. Kinda so for Vflower too but well I can atleast understand why they went for a totally different tone for her because the original vocaloid voice was quite niche! I believe Teto got the best upgrade lol. She sounds smoother, clearer, mature - and still teto ; it feels like a good journey really. And I feel Yukari sounded the most consistent throughout - I suppose it helps that her Jun, Lin, Onn banks already highlighted her versatility in tone and so everything forward just seemed like combining those effects and hence making it still feeel Yukari lol.
