Somebody at the HOA has a family member with a roofing business. I find it unfathomable that Americans would pay a group to tell you what you can and cannot do with your own home and property.

HOA's are legal grift. i shopped for a townhouse in Hennepin County and I was shocked at the cost, and what was covered and what wasn't. License to steal.

Our HOA did the same thing to us in Lakeville, we got new roofs when they were just replaced like 8 years ago. There's more to it than I can write here but it's a scam. If they have First Residential as a management company it doesn't surprise me.

The Attorney General needs to get involved and put an end to these property management companies. The last one my HOA had was Litehouse Management and they stole $42,000 (all of our money) and was never prosecuted. The Attorney General needs to get involved.

This is why insurance costs are going up, insurance companies are starting to not even cover HOAs, if you're in one its probably why your fees have gone way up. They should look into this deeper, someone is pocketing money

Get a Attorney to get a court injunction to stop this being forced until a second opinion is presented and review your documents for ways to remove the board and any management company. I wouldn't be surprised if there are kickbacks. while a few homes might've had damage from the storm in question I doubt it requires full replacement of is necessary for all homeowners.

HOAs are bad news. That's one of the reasons why homes under HOA control are way cheaper. I just bought a home in the Twin Cities region. While searching online, I noticed that homes under HOA control take longer to sell and are usually priced much lower. They are priced much lower because the public is aware of horror stories fighting their HOA and are willing to pay more to stay clear of them.

There is absolutely NO WAY that ALL 95 homes , that just had new roofs put on 2 years ago , had their roofs completely destroyed by hail and need to be completely replaced again . A few homes may need some shingles replaced but that's it . smdh

Simple,hire a structural engineer to come out and inspect the roof.have them email the insurance their findings and you'll be good to go.

Many of the roof inspectors are not even qualified to do the job!! Had the scam up here in Duluth. Client was forced to replace the roof with NO damage and another that was damaged shorted the replacement by 8 square, about $3000.00. Demanded another inspection and made it right.

Your comment is patently stupid. One of my best friends is a proud and vigilant Republican. He and his wife live in a townhome community because he doesn't want to deal with snow and lawncare. He complains a little about the fees, but he is content. I'd say you could do better with your comments, but looking at your sentence structure, I doubt it.

Because most desirable areas require a HOA. We had a townhome in one and it was fine. It’s all about how it’s managed. You can either have an HOA or risk having trashy neighbors who don’t clean up their crap and are a nuisance.
