It's hard to say how good JJ could be at this point, but there are a lot of good signs.

JJ will be the most successful NFL qb of this class. Barring injury or trade, he'll bring Minnesota a SB or 2 in the next decade or so. As a michigan fan, im glad he went into the ideal situation for a rookie qb. I mean, their 3rd stringer was throwing for 400+ yds and multi tds last year. But as a lions fan, im not happy about it.

I love JJ, and wish him the best. I do find your comments a little bit discordant with that of other scouts regarding his third down conversion numbers. Some scouts said that yes he did that in the playoffs, but that in a lot of context throughout the season, he was not able to convert on third downs. Actually, even during the playoff there were long stretches where he could not. Again, nobody is perfect, and I certainly think he has the capability to fix that, but I am curious why you think others are wrong when they point that out as a weakness.

The reports I keep hearing about what a potential move up to 3 would take sounds factual. What keeps getting tagged along with it that it was to select Maye sounds much more like assumptions or speculation. It may very well be true, but why is that reported? Maybe they thought they might need to get that high for JJ?

If Minnesota can correct JJ's flaws, he will be very good. I'm also understanding of Colin's take that his timing and accuracy are very suspect at times. I screenshot replays of simple crossing routes where receivers and tight ends upper body and heads are going backwards. Those plays would have been 15-20 yrd gains if he put the pass on point.

Not a lot of people notice this. How similar Mahomes and McCarthy are. When Mahomes was picked, He was pick 10 , so McCarthy got picked at pick 10. Mahomes was 22 when he got picked and McCarthy is 21. They both played two in sports. Mahomes played baseball and McCarthy hockey. Now that McCarthy is with vikings and having awesome teammates like Jefferson and Addison and Aaron Jones, this going to open the door succeed just like Mahomes, who knows they may even be already superbowl contenders.

Aaahhhh NO Joel, you incorrectly corrected yourself. You were right the first time. The Vikings were sitting there at 11 and after the Bears took a receiver (who by the way will probably only catch 1 pass ALL season IF he is lucky, lol) that is when the Vikings made their move. Yes, they played chicken with the little giants but they did Not want to look Really stupid and get jumped by the broncos (and wiseass sean) or raiders. So, after the bears they made a trade with the jets to secure the 10th pick and the rest is the proverbial history as they say. Tell me you are not slipping Joel:)
