Oldschool drummers (Krupa days) made their own tempo, and the band either carried on with them, or got lost. But the drummers usually were good enough that they'd bring the band all together in tightness. Modern drummers have the advantage of having access to a "click track" in their ear (if they want it). Hence why some drummers can get such a "machine" rhythm going. Although, I suspect very few jazz drummers ever need or use one.

@ApplePi._.2 жыл бұрын
Idk, I am a tenor and all so I respect that dancing part I could never do but like I am only a freshman and idk how low a works and all which I think he plays here idk but for me it is quite easy to take a breath between those notes, especially because he doesn't need to take deep breaths because that would be worse for him. You see, when you take deeper breaths like that in between notes, your body needs you to inhale again for oxygen and most times if you have deep breaths there, you're going to end up with too much air and you will not be able to exhale properly which will affect his body and his head too much. Not saying I am better, just wanted to point out a few facts I believe and I am up for a disproof Edit: although it is entirely possible that the extra air would go to helping him move, considering that I never play while moving like that so I wouldn't know 0.0

As a fellow bari player, this just confirms what I've been saying since Jr. High School 50 years ago: The baritone sax is the funkiest wind instument on the planet! That's why the first sax Adolph Sax invented was a Bari! Rock it, Youngblood: Bari Forever!

That smile partly came from having his solo cut short and him not being ready for it but still pulling through like a champ. Originally the solo is 24 bars long, you can even see in the back ground the upright bassist calls 4 bars until the end to the conductor, but the conductor finishes it right away throwing the drummer off guard. They all played it incredibly and we a good sport about it.
