Minor Blues Harmonica is a lot easier to start playing than most people realise. In this video, I am going to show you how to start even if you can’t bend by using 3rd position. I’ll also show you how to play it in 2nd position if you are a little more advanced.

Thomlin So playing in the easy key (no bends needed to be in key with a minor) you want to play in 3rd position? Or in your example C is second position from G and F is second position from C or 3rd position from G?
@LycanB64
@LycanB64 3 жыл бұрын
2nd position is 5 tones higher than the key of the harmonica (So if your harmonica is inth e key of C, second position would be G). 3rd position is one tone up from the key of the harmonica (So on a C harp, the 3rd position would be D). in third position, you can hit all the target minor blues key's notes without bending (On the C harp, you can hit all the notes of Dm blues key).

Great lesson.. Good info. You showed a few or more different scales on various lessons. I play the ones I remember at the beginning of my practices. But the more you show the more confused I get about which is which. The blues scale is the only one I'm always sure of its name. Could you do a tab with at least the ones you show all in one document? Like I do this one , and don't know what its called. -2" -2 -3" -3' 4 -4 5 -5

Man I’m like decent at harmonica now and can learn a lot by ear, but I don’t really know what to listen to. Anyone have any recommendations on learning new licks from someone? All I find are these tutorials on very beginner stuff and it’s hard to progress.

Check Jason ricci for amazing licks but don't expect to master them soon! Adam Gussow is another huge star of the harmonica world but, again, there's some really hard stuff there. With both of them overblows become important and I believe Jason overdraws too. Good luck on your journey!

Of course, in third position you can also play the 1 draw, which is an octave below the 4 draw. Further, the student observes that he can't play third position in the key of Fm, because, as far as he knows, the E flat harmonica does not exist. Lucky it's not a common key.

Hi. So I can not use -3 and -7, 2 and 5 and what about -3`` and -6 ? I ask because when I play MINOR blues in 2nd and i play -3`` and -6 I can feel that something is not right. So can I play -3`` and -6 in minor 2nd or not really ? Regards

question, you said to play a minor scale in 3 rd position, use the major key lower by 1 letter, so is there a difference between a major key lower by 1 letter compare to a real minor scale harp ? In other word, is there a difference between a F major harp compare to a G minor harp ?

Then I discovered this lesson that has arrived at just the right time to help me (finally) solidify my understanding of playing a minor blues.
