Good night. As usual, fantastic nugget. Really appreciate the Barryesque tutorials. I've been working on a lot of his approach over the last year, and I will re present myself in about 2wks expressing a lot of his concepts. Transitioning to his approach really slowed my playing down so much, that I couldn't really gig without going back to my old self. As a guitarist, its been a challenge to get the info and how to apply it to my instrument. I look at The things I learn from Barry Harris and I've learned a lot. At the beginning, I couldn't get it as he doesn't show the notes that he's playing for context. Labyrinth of something is really good, but his mix is really hard to hear without his guitar sounding too loud. He has taken Barry's work to a completely different level. Kudos to him. With your tutorials I get to see the notes, and it doesn't matter that you play the piano. Your explanations are clear and easy to capture. My Man, thanks for your tutorials. Personally, I truly appreciate them. Thanks.

Thank you for your kind words and for sharing your experience with me! It's great to hear that you have been working on incorporating Barry Harris's approach into your playing and that my tutorials have been helpful in that process. It's also wonderful to hear that there are several guitarist members on Jazz Skills who are seeing improvement in their playing - it's always rewarding to witness the progress of others. I never expected to find so many guitarists benefiting. Keep up the hard work and keep pushing yourself to improve - I'm confident that you will see the results of your efforts in your playing.

Another tasty lesson Shan. I’ll definitely be checking this out in the morning, but right now it’s late and my bed beckons. Thanks for this - and Happy New Year!

I learned a lot from this one. I was rusty on my minor 1-6-2-5 and the various subs. Thank you.

Another quality lesson Shan! This is a bit above my skill level - still doing the fluency thing - but it's useful to get familiar with these concepts before I play them. :)

Those chords do sound so old fashioned. What is that, the sixth? It really does sound like the 1940s, or something along those lines.

Nice video Shan! What is the rule about when it’s a minor 6 or minor 7 chord? What exactly did Barry Harris tell you?

Hi please can you take one or a couple of Corinne Bailey Rae’s song and break it down as in example the theory behind the composition. I like her songs, I can play a couple of them on the piano just following the chord progressions but I don’t really get the theory why the songs are so soulful and beautiful. The chord progressions are not very regular either not to talk of the melody over the chord progressions. Please can you breakdown a couple of them as in the root the 5th the 4th as so on so that after learning them one could use some of the theories to compose not just copying chord progressions. Thanks a lot in advance.
