Gta iv's atmosphere is so interwoven with the story. Gta v's world, whilst more impressive from a technical viewpoint, never felt as interesting for me personally.
@ThePandafriend7 жыл бұрын
The Ghost Of Overeem's Chin The problem with GTA V is that the world has a pretty surface but apart from that there is not much to offer (referring to the game world only). The paths in the missions feel forced and I don't know why, but the guns feel a bit like toys. The physics feel worse (driving/ragdolls). And being able to influence your car mid air feels strange in a game which is aimed at a more realistic atmosphere. Plus the A.I. is much worse and the player is superior to the NPCs. For example when crashing the damage is much lower. It's nearly Impossible to wreck your car accidentally. Other things are that explosions feel much more artificial when it comes to the physics and NPCs (including cops) attack you with lethal force when you stand too long in front of them. The details in the world are also less consistent and there are not many side activities. I mean I spent hours playing pool in GTA IV but GTA V just had not many side activities that an ordinary person who doesn't want to commit crimes can do. Things like Yoga feel forced and are not rewarding. Nevertheless I played through the game twice and still had fun but in my opinion it is far inferior to GTA IV.
@irf28567 жыл бұрын
ThePandafriend I get that it defers from realism quite a bit but considering the vastness of the world I think implementing car controls to stop you from getting stuck are useful. But I agree 100% iv's world was alot more fun to free roam in single player, gta v was the first gta game I didn't bother exploring that much mainly because it's simply to big and world take days to fully explore.
@ThePandafriend7 жыл бұрын
The problem is not the lack of realism. The problem is that the world feels artificial and disconnected to you. In GTA IV you are no super human. You are slightly stronger than the others when it comes to the hp (plus you can't get headshotted), but apart from that you have exactly the same abilities as the NPCs. The same ridiculous physics. The cars had in most cases (excluding some scripted moments) the same ridiculous suspension physics. When crashing you fly out of the windshield. When getting hit by explosions you don't die instantly, but get simply knocked back. In GTA V you rarely lose the control over your vehicle or your body. But in order to make a game world more believable this has to be done. I mean just look at something like Mirror's Edge. A game which I played for countless hours. But if you could have controlled Faith mid air I probably never would have played it for hundreds of hours. Nothing significant gets changed just because you're around. You don't get super powers. And when it comes to the air controls of vehicles I used it less than five times during two playthroughs. And I am not the kind of player who is speedrunning through games. I like it to go off the beaten path. I like to do side acitvities and I explored the whole world (excluding the ocean). But while doing this in contrast to GTA IV the world didn't get more interesting. I didn't find interesting places or interesting stuff to do. It got more boring because eventually it was more like looking behind the curtain of a play which used tons of shortcuts than exploring a game world. But worst of all the driving was never fun. It was okayish but even with handling mods which made GTA IV one of my favourite driving and flying games it never reached the heights of its predecessor. I don't regret playing that game and it is definitely not a bad title, but in contrast to GTA IV I also don't replay it anymore because it got boring after much less than hundred hours. I played GTA V for maybe around two months but I play GTA IV since more 10 years. Sure, the breaks are longer than during the period after the release, but still like to play it despite having several thousand hours of playtime.
@luisneitzke1067 жыл бұрын
I've been under the impression that GTA V is supposed to be a "2000's Hollywood movie", while GTA IV is "classic cinema", ever since V was released. It spent all its money on being a super production and forgot about the actual content. The story makes it clear, sure, but it also reflects on the gameplay and the game world as well, as it takes itself less seriously in order to give the player the feeling that they are big/scored the big time. Long story short: kids will like being the big guy, but the game ends up boring like hell after a short while. Unless you're obsessed with the different sound effects for different shoes. Surely that's a huge gameplay element for someone out there. (I appreciate the details, but you get the point - I'd rather still have Vigilante side missions) I wish things would still be like when the Saints Row series was the one made for those who enjoyed playing absurd games while getting high and laughing at childish humor, and the GTA series was the classic free roam game about building a criminal empire/getting involved with the criminal world with its ups and downs and the occasional (but never too over the top and childish) humor. Parodying the North American society was always a big thing in GTA, but now it almost feels like it became the parody. It's shallow. And it wants us to relate to and find Trevor acceptable/funny. Okay... Let's hope that's not a sign of what to expect of the next main characters...
@ThePandafriend7 жыл бұрын
MitsuharuSan I agree with you on this one. GTA V has tons of details which are interesting and show how much work was put into some aspects of this game. There worked a lot of talented people on this game. However despite having tons of details unfortunately the gameplay is dumbed down. After playing it for some time you see how much things were sacrificed for a fluid gameplay without many challenges. Now it's just an online playground suited for children. With this I don't mean that everyone who plays this game is a child, but that the gameplay was simplified so much that even children who have not much experience when it comes to games could play this game. Both the skill needed to play properly and the skill ceiling are quite low and the only challenge comes from other players. I think under another name and without hype the ratings would have been much lower. At first I liked this game too and I still don't hate it (I hate it how they built a multiplayer similar to a free to play game and ignore the singleplayer unless they can drive people to the multiplayer though), but sadly in my opinion it got ruined due to its gameplay eventually. And it has a lack of memorable missions or characters (excluding the ones who you control and maybe Lester for some reason).

V is a great game but IV is a true classic
@jeremysanders93367 жыл бұрын
The story was way better in IV. It's grittier and more realistic, and the characters come off as being much more interesting and easy to identify with than the one-dimensional characters of V. You could make the argument that there isn't much to do outside of the story in IV, but I'd argue that it has a higher degree of replayability to it. In V, I've never felt the urge to do more than one playthrough, and the online component is just a giant grind so that rockstar can push those shark cards.
@kahlil33137 жыл бұрын
V is a lackluster, online pay to play piece of shit.
@Tannerj507 жыл бұрын
unfortunately with 4 it was too realistic for the majority of fans of the series and although it was extremely well reviewed (still one of the best reviewed games ever actually)it ended up alienating a lot of them , because gone were the days of the random crazy violence and humor, so that's why if you may have noticed in gta 5 , it's the complete opposite( aside from plot relevant Michael missions, because Michael's character is pretty much based completely on the current story driven era which is 4 and 5 of gta, where as Trevor is based on 1 and 2,rampage era, and Franklin based on 3, vc and sa where all protagonists eventually work their way up to the top)all the missions have crazy violence to them , and it's incredibly far from realism
@TheGodQuac7 жыл бұрын
But iii is more classico
@jonathand75316 жыл бұрын
Absolutely agree. I've played through V's story once because it wasn't memorable enough to me to play it more than once. GTA 4, I've beaten probably 10 times and I'm probably gonna load it up with a bunch of mods and play through it again soon. It really just depends on the style of game you enjoy more. GTA V is just crazy fun with action set pieces straight out of Hollywood, but GTA IV is like playing through a gritty drama.

@breadgeorge_7 жыл бұрын

@ShredderGG7 жыл бұрын
Bread George You want to know why I prefer IV to V? IV's story imo is a has a more realistic and relatable story to it. Story of an immigrant moving to a place he doesn't know and getting caught up in trouble crimes and to help out his family and friends is more interesting to me that V's : ONE LAST JOB BRO! IV is also has more of a dark atmosphere which I like in games. Characters in IV also seem more real. I like Niko because he's the serious character with a tragic background who tries to assimilate into LC. I like Roman because his character is based on optimism and living the American Dream with all odds against him. There are so many interesting characters I could name. Packie if you hang out on friend activities goes over the abuse he went through with his father and his drinking problem and how it affected the Mc'Creary family. Characters in V just seem like they're "there". Franklin is a good example of a character with potential but little development in the actual game. I prefer IV physics because I like to walk into peds and push them off cliffs. In V the peds are stiff and the euphoria engine is dumbed down as compared to IV. Hope this is enough. Don't want this comment to be too long now.

Gta 4 had the best physics and detail in the series so far, especially with its incapacitated mode where npcs would writhe on the ground in pain and get back up injured, die or be revived, unlike in Gta 5 where npcs would have the same reaction regardless of weapon used and just die/knockout (which is death because they never get back up) straight away . Red dead was also good, implementing a crippled system if you shot npcs in the leg, as well as Max Payne's enhanced euphoria. I just wish gta 5 incorporated all of these elements from their other games, but thanks to mods like RAGEuphoria or writhe mod, this can be achieved, almost.

Idk if you've shown this in a previous video before but you can donate your money to homeless people in the game. Usually you can find them in alleyways. Either walk up to them, or stand near them and let them walk up to you, and a prompt will appear giving you the option to donate some of your money or not. This works in GTA IV and TLAD (I haven't tried TBoGT but I'm sure you can do it there too). Another thing you can find in alleyways are pick-up items (i.e. bricks, rocks, etc.) to throw at people, cars, etc. The mission where you trash the Chinese man's shop by throwing a brick through the shop's window isn't the only instance where you can get your hands on items like that :P
