Scott, I've been performing & writing as a solo artist for almost 30 years. I never stop learning and am always looking for new inspirations. You have definitely inspired me and opened my eyes to harmonies and grooves I can add to my music that will open more avenues of creativity. You are seriously a gem and have serious talent in expressing what you teach. That is a true quality. I can't wait to watch and save all your videos. I even got something from your Pentatonic video...& you're right, it was the first thing i learned. But, the ABAC and parts like writing a song has totally got me thinking about new ways to create! Thanks for again for the videos. You deserve much praise and $$. You are definitely one I will donate to.(And, I never have before). Keep them coming.

All of us who play guitars for a long, long time. Some thirty or forty years or more. Some more than half a century. When we start with the guitar we think and look at the guitar as an integral part of our bodies.the guitar becomes a part of our brain, when you start to convey emotions with your playing. And you think with the guitar, even then we all learn.

Bro THANK YOU! I been trying to learn these fundamentals of guitar for 20 years and no one explained or demonstrated for my dyslexic brain (and am a lefty) better than your videos. I love the real time visuals of the actual chord progressions and each note mapped out. I cannot THANK YOU ENOUGH! I’m finally working on an album and love play and sing blues and metal, even love Spanish and classical mashups with blues and metal. So this is going to take my music playing and composing to higher and far more refined level. God bless you thank you for what you do. My guitar teacher Bill Slusser was the only teacher who had the patience to teach me. He passed away in 2008, God rest his gifted soul. Since his death I’ve been trying to figure it out myself from books and other KZbin. But it was so overwhelming. I don’t know maybe my years of trying to learn on my own is paying off in the way of reaching another level of understanding and comfort in playin thus I’m not so mystified anymore. Like you did understanding the the general chord shapes goes a long way in teaching the basics of scales progression. I couldn’t believe how easily I understood everything you spoke on and recognized the scale patterns. I’m truly grateful my dear. God bless you! 🤗🌺💜🌺🔥🎸🎤👊🏽

I can not get over how well produced and edited your videos are. The music and instruction is great, but the camera locked to the guitar neck so it's always in the same spot in frame, the ghosting of the fingers and the overlay of the notes/positions on the guitar is just astounding. Throw in the little backing audio nods when things are written or notes/scales are mentioned in order so you can hear what's being talked about is just an amazing subtle addition that brings this whole channel to another level.

It’s like I know this stuff down deep, but the minor scale relation to the CAGED system is also where I got tripped up on my guitar theory for 20 years🤦🏼‍♂️ 😅 Thanks for putting this visual lesson together my brotha...so helpful to put the glue on everything 🙏🏼 One thing that would help tie in the jam track section for me even further & more quickly, would be one of your visuals of the chords being used in the minor keys...seeing the chords & scales over each other in two separate windows with your vid edit style would be the ultimate! 💯 You have the gift of teaching my friend! Keep bringing it! I can only imagine how many people around the world will play better music, or discover it for the first time, because of your generosity and teaching methods. I "learned" to play the guitar some 20 years ago. Had no teacher, really not enough content on the internet, only some really basic magazines. I played chords, never got past there, learned a song here and there without paying any interest to the guitar anymore. I was getting my guitar maybe 3 times a year, played it for some half an hour to see if i remembered the songs, No progress in 20 years. I originally watched your Caged system about 3 weeks ago, i can play trough all the fretboard now. Im really happy. 3 weeks, i learned more in 3 weeks from a 20~ mins video than in 20 years. I really take a lot out of them, both for revising and enhancing my knowledge on the scales and the CAGED system. The quality of your videos is simply amazing. Do you accept video suggestions? :) I noticed that you mix in different styles into your licks, but I clearly hear a blues touch in it. May I suggest a video of say 10-20 MUST KNOW blues licks? :) Maybe also based on the pentatonic scales, showing when to use them best over which chord. Please keep doing what you do, because you are simply outstanding and an immensely talented instructor. Lukas

Time stamps: C: 0:55 A: 4:04 G: 5:29 E: 6:23 D: 7:40 Every major penta scale has it identical twin minor scale, for example, if you have a g-shaped C major penta scale then the other notes gonna be A minor. If you want to make the Major reference note Minor, bump it up 3 frets. For reference notes keep the colored notes in mind red and purple.

I am quite convince that if you carry on doing that exceptional work you do, you'll become the number one worldwide on line "star guitar (music ?) teacher" ... I am living in a place where I meet almost every day, pros and amateurs musicians. I am "selling" you each time I am meeting them, yesterday evening during diner was the last time I mentioned your name ... no I am wrong, I did it during lunch time today ... do not stop your lessons, we need you !

You've simplified this in such a way that makes me question why noone else on KZbin has been able to lay it out so I plainly. Thankyou so much

Dude. The only way you could be better is if you tutored math online to my kid. You’re an amazing teacher. Engaging, direct and relatable. Love your channels!

I am very impressed with the set up on screen [SPJ] + guitar neck + lit boxes. As well as your explanations which are straight to the point. I now have a better understanding of the use of the CAGED system VS the 5 boxes of the pentatonic scales and their chord shapes as well as the connection between each box throughout the guitar neck. The next step which I have not fully understood yet is incorporating the 7 modes to the above mentioned theory. Once this is accomplished, I think I will never get "lost" again on my guitar neck while soloing. Perhaps you already have that video connecting the modes to it, I have not seen it yet! Thank you. Great Teaching...

That was the BEST explanation of this caged system I've seen to date. I understood the concept, but wasnt sure exactly how it was connected. Bravo! Subscribed. Please show us more lessons.

essentially you can play the minor scale of any key by starting on that note on the low E string and starting with the g shape.. You can play the major scale of any key by doing the same but starting with the E shape.. Find which scales you like, learn the root shape for the scale, and then add more scales to your library. They are all the same, but if true fretboard mastery is your ultimate goal you should learn to play any key any where on the board! awesome video as always man.. you're an awesome teacher.. I started playin in December 2019 and can already play up and down the fretboard thanks to your caged system vid!
