Ngl she nailed it. As someone who grew up with Kingdom Hearts from a teen age, I seriously appreciate this (I'm 34 now). Amazing job. This is coming from someone who plays Kingdom Hearts at Level 1 and does speedruns at Level 1, so it takes a lot to impress me when it comes to one of my best gaming franchises. I'm actually quite impressed.

It's about their relationship being shaky and the guy is afraid to meet the girl's father because he thinks he wouldn't approve of their relationship. So she's reassuring him that their love is pure and that they'll be together regardless. Or at least that's my understanding. It's possible the guy is much older than the girl, which is why he says she'll understand when she's older and why he thinks the father wouldn't approve. Alternatively, the guy probably used her for a one night stand and she wants a pure and simple relationship, but doesn't understand that he doesn't care.

The japanese lyrics are written for the game. Utada couldn't quite translate the lyrics and still make the song sound right so she rewrote some of them.

​@@Dexrazor having recently read a translation of Hikari, Simple and Clean almost sounds like a sequel to it rather than a direct adaptation. It seems like it takes place after the events of what happens in Hikari, or at least that's the way I interpreted it.
