A wonderful program skated by such an underappreciated skater.

Yes, surely underappreciated. Her style was unique, and as good as the skaters are NOW, I looked this up because I felt like figure skating is missing some of what this generation of skaters brought in so far as their grace of expression. Elena Liashenko was definitely one of those. She had a quirky way of telegraphing her jumps sometimes, but I actually liked that about her--I liked the suspense I felt watching her. It WAS part of her unique way and it wasn't really awkward, but it was different in a way because she really USED the ice surface. You were ALWAYS entertained watching her. ~JSV

@@jsv438 Agreed. They were way too hard on her "telegraphed" entires. I always thought her jumps looked great. It was suspenseful.

@@jimmyfab Indeed. The sport then (and now) has always had too much expectation put on uniformity, and she was so unique, but yet very graceful in her own way and so beautiful to watch. Always had good program music, costumes, the sport misses her. he should've finished in higher ranks in her time. She drew a lot of fans worldwide as well. Lovely skater. ~JSV
And always missed it the same way, always a 2.5 loop. I know I saw her land a two-footed one once (and missed like everything else strangely). Think it was in a Europeans qualifying round.

It's because she's way too tentative going into it. The setup is so long. If it wasn't for her telegraphed jumps, I would've liked her skating more.
