Thank you! The Tibetan Sand Mandala is much like this salt work - unparalleled focus, patience, and skill. The Mint staff, along with the thousands of visitors that came to see Motoi work, were absolutely amazed. It really was inspiring to watch him.

Absolutely! His "Return to the Sea" saltworks are amazing. “Drawing a labyrinth with salt is like following a trace of my memory. Memories seem to change and vanish as time goes by; however, what I seek is to capture a frozen moment that cannot be attained through pictures or writings” - Motoi Yamamoto

One of the most beautiful pieces I have seen, and I mean the whole process. More than anything I find the audience participation to be a remarkable process, and the message behind it is nothing less than staggering.. which reminds me of Buddhist mandala ceremonies

Thanks for your comment! We agree - a few close-ups of real-time salt pouring would be great, but unfortunately did not make it in this time-lapse. However, you can see the full photo album by clicking the link in the description, which includes all sorts of shots!

His Floating Garden "Spiral" art work reminds me of a Top-View of either Cyclone, Tornado or Typhoon.

I wish you hadn't done all of this on fast forward. It would have been lovely to see a minute or so of real time salt pouring. Neverthelss I thought this profound.

Rest assured, no wood floors were damaged throughout this installation :) It's sad to say, but you'd never know the salt was there after it was removed..
