The best thing about EGS is that their labels are not microsoft-blue. I hope they swing for the fences because CGC sets a very low bar. We need a lot better. The crazy Ed story was great.

Thats awesome! Great pick up. As for EGS, the only thing that held me back was the old slabs (almost caved because of the custom labels though). Now, theres nothing negative about sending my next submission into them. They'll be for my PC, so I don't care about having confusing colours. Matched with the right book, they'll be smokin....

I wouldn't get a pedigree pressed... that's part of the charm of the pedigree books--that they are in high grade (or relatively high grade) because they were cared for all those many years ago. That book you got with the slabs is so nice! Congratulations!

I do really like the aesthetically pleasing look of the EGS label matching the cover, color wise and with the bat theme. It displays awesomely. The only thing holding me back from patronizing them is the lower price they command on the secondary market, where the same grade from another company would get me a higher price. Also, I'm not so confident in the consistency and expertise of their graders as of yet. As you've covered in your other videos, even CGC has been having issues as of recently in regards to quality control, so maybe a change of grading company will be in my future... but honestly, for that to occur the opinion of the market in general would also have to be more favorable to these lesser known companies where the resell value of their product isn't so far off what CGC would command.

That pisses me off about comic collecting graded comics someone have 9.8 book by cgc pgx cbcs egs it should dam well be selling for same dam price not different prices all people are mostly paying for is label for grade book and companies logo on label

@@dragonball3166 in theory yes, but for example there have been many instances of PGX putting a 9.8 grade on a book that isn't even close. To be honest all companies have had this issue to some extent, CGC just does it less often and tends to have a higher standard of what a 9.8 is.

I have been collecting for 30+ years, and I have never had a book slabbed (or even owned a slab, for that matter). However these custom cases are getting me itchy to send something in.

*_I've never heard of an ebay seller that was this classy. Most ebay sellers I have bought from seemed like crazed drug fiends who live in their own fantasy world. And because of those sellers, I didn't use ebay for a decade. Maybe they all moved over to Craigslist._* *_Hm....did you check what that torn GL could be worth?_* *_I am very sceptical to EGS-however, if they have new labels and have hired an actual graphics designer for their labels and not use MS paint free graphics...I'll give them a "hmm." None of the slab-companies have great magazine slabs. Maybe EGS could take that market._* *_And finally, always be cleaning 'n' pressing an re-submitting. I had a dent I removed from a book and went from a 8.5 to a 9.4......I too was shocked._*

With the way CGC is grading books now, particulalrly ones from 1975 and earlier, I would not recommend letting them regrade youe books that are already beautiful. I do agree, however, to get the GL #6 reslabbed with the new pedigree label. I think the newer labels really make the whole presentation of the book pop. Great finds!

Great pickup. Really hard to find 60's books in that condition, but as you just showed they are out there. I keep hearing good things about egs but I'm not a fan of the custom labels. Green labels were always bad but what if you go green for a gl book or purple for someone else?

I definitely think competition is good, and nice to have grading competitors but I haven't heard a blip about this company in forever, nor do I ever see there slabs in general on Ebay. I mean I don't type them in the search, but I don't see them when I look up books in general. So I'd be surprised if they make it in the long run to be honest. The slabs are kind of cool, but coolness aside, trust in the grading is what matters. I've seen people do side by side comparisons sending the same book to multiple companies, including this one and certainly can be comparable there. At the end of the day though, I don't know what ESG's experience with detecting resto and conservation is, and that's my biggest issue.

I definitely like the COA and the fact there are grader notes EVEN with a 9.8, awesome! I am not loving the custom labels though, I get Microsoft paint vibes. But I applaud their effort and hope they can compete in the grading game in the near future

EGS slabs are also the only slab that has a UV coating to protect your books.

PGX does not list that thier cases are uv coated. EGS is the only one that states that they are. Of course with PGXs quality control and grading snafus I wouldn't trust them regardless.

I would definitely do EGS over CGC regardless, CGC been known to take WAYYYYY too long with their orders, upside down comics in slabs, comics sent to wrong member NUMEROUS times, mess up comics in the process of regrading them, placing incorrect titles on slabs, and the list goes on and on and on with things wrong with CGC. Yet somehow the community holds it as “the standard” why? Simply because of a cult following. I’m saying all of this RESPECTFULLY, not wanting to cause or start any drama but just to point out the blind unfairness that there is trusting one company and not the others. We should hold ALL the companies accountable for their services & customer service & stop blindly following the one just because the masses have it as “the standard” while ignoring the MANY flaws that it has felt to the community. I say all this all with love, respect, & out of care for the collecting community. Y’all stay blessed.

I think trying to get the grade bump would just ruin all the provenance you have with it. It would be too much of a gamble and even if you DO get the grade bump they wouldn't match the binder anymore. It's all ready a really attractive package. My personal opinion, keep everything how it is and never split up that package. If you ever decide to sell keep it all together.

From the pics I have seen on Ebay and in other vids, EGS has some QC hurdles to clear with comic/label alignments and spelling errors. For me the long serial number is gimmicky and the labels and artwork are sub. Would love to see them overcome this and maybe this is just aimed at collectors who don't put a premium on ROI...but I do...and for those reasons, I am out. :)

For me it’s price submitting books get graded and grade books allready autograph with no witness with friendly customer service pgx gave me that if egs have cheaper or same price I will try egs

Come on James, you need to be fair and point out the down sides of EGS slabs. What about that title sticker on the top that brings back bad memories of CGC labels that used to peel off over time. Also the posts on the sides are very ugly in my opinion. In order for EGS to be successful they will need to prove the quality and accuracy of their grading. Only time will tell.

submit it. cgc is so awesome and will never change the grading to off white pages and there's no chance of anything going wrong. Their customer service is the best and they love to listen to comic book collectors.
