Not because it’s pop after hours is pretty much a synth pop album but the problem with albums like BBTM and Starboy is they lack cohesion and some of the tracks on BBTM and Starboy were just filler and shouldn’t have been on those records and made those albums sound more like mixtapes than actual studio LPS
@707outxo32 жыл бұрын
@@mohahmed4304 i disagree i think BBTM is a 10 and his 5th best under dawn FM and the mixtapes and starboy is a 9 tied with AH

Yeah, at this point idk what the difference is. Its not extremely pop, its kinda like in the middle and his overall style was similar too. People nowadays just assume that more mainstream=worse art, even though that’s completely false! BBTM and Starboy are legendary albums you can’t tell me otherwise.
@ejodh0826 Жыл бұрын
Idk I didn’t like a few of the tracks on it. There’s maybe 10 or 11 tracks (out of 18) that are great and replayable but the rest is just annoying filler to me. If the tracklist was cut down a bit I’d like it more

11:20 Ordinary Life does represent The Weeknd's death in a literal sense, but retrospectively I think it symbolizes how he feels about love. "Everybody said it would hurt in the end" can resemble the heartbreak that comes at the end of a relationship, which is typically his reason for avoiding them; "but I feel nothing" represents the numbness he's developed as a result of his lifestyle, showing that not even a broken heart is enough to make him feel. I believe the song's overarching theme is being too far gone for love, "Paid for the life that I chose, if I could I'd trade it all, trade it for a halo" shows that he's sacrificed the ability to love in order to achieve the success and fame he's always deserved. "She said that she'll pray for me, I said 'it's too late for me,' 'cause I think it's safe to say this ain't ordinary life" shows that someone is trying to bring him closer to a divine power (love), but he's so immersed in his own lifestyle to the point where he genuinely believes he's unable to love at all. After this song, we really see a shift in the album in that he manages to find himself capable of loving someone else in a way he never thought possible. I really think Ordinary Life is The Weeknd's most underrated song, and I hope you see this even though two years have passed!

This was the first album that REALLY got me into The Weeknd. I had heard a few hit singles from Beauty on the radio and was interested. Once the self titled track Starboy came out, I was hooked! Been a huge fan of his music ever since then! Super excited for his upcoming record! Really love these mini documentaries as well. Very professional! Keep them coming! You should do one on My Dear Melancholy! In my opinion that is a very underrated body of work from Abel even though it's only 6 tracks..

5 years later Starboy is everything a Pop album should be, full of danceable tracks (Starboy, Secrets, A Lonely Night) and slow jams (Die For You, I Feel it Coming, Attention). Pays tribute to Michael Jackson and throwback pop/Disco. Each song telling a story (love, fear, paranoia). Starboy in my eyes is a classic Weeknd album💯

Thank you so much for making this video. People really forget why Starboy is such a good album. I love Starboy and it’s my favorite album from all of them. It just sounds so unique and amazing. It has the best songs I’ve ever heard in my life lol. The way u described the story behind it really shows to prove that these “real” xo fans gotta stop defying who The Weeknd is when Abel is the one who defies himself and that’s what he did with Starboy. It was a rebirth like u said and it really does have a story. I like listening to Starboy because it makes me happy it makes me feel good. I also love the love tracks that it has. Cause even tho u have it all and are a Starboy, you can still fall in love with someone and wanna die for them. It really shows who The Weeknd is and how much his life has changed. Obviously things went downhill for him and we got the next 2 albums. But even with Starboy he tells a lot about himself. A real XO would love Starboy and understand the truth behind it and understand that The Weeknd is not just a sad heart broken singer. He’s one of the greatest artists to ever exists and he made his way up to even become a Starboy. Thank you for this video lol

great vid man I like to think of his albums as independent personalities. He's even said himself he redefines his character for each project and obv starts this one by killing is older self, quite a bold statement. Id argue the abel we see in later projects isnt the same abel from this project. I like to think the character he makes for each project is a semi reflection of himself at that point in his life, but ultimately theyre all meant to be different personas.

Yeah that’s a really interesting take. His albums really do feel like movies, in the sense that Weeknd is the director and lead star but the characters are in different contexts each time

I will preface this by saying in no way is this meant to come off as trying to imply I have fame in any sense. But watching his videos my mouth is on the floor seeing have a theme track between his life and my life experiences (in different social environments and different career industries). The parallels are creepily uncanny. The point being I am technically the same person I was then. But in every meaningful way I’m completely different. Same could apply to him
