Can't believe this movie is almost 30 years old already. It still looks like it could've been made yesterday. Fabulous effects work. Excellent stunt coordination. Incredible action set pieces. When it wants to be a comedy, it's the funniest comedy ever, and when it wants to be an action movie, it's the most action-packed flick EVER! Does both to perfection, and moves so seamlessly between them. Plus, Bill Paxton......what can I say.......best performance of his colorful career. I really miss him.

This is one of my favourite action movies. One thing I really like is the realism, i.e. real jets, real stunts, real explosions. The bridge scenes, including the explosion using miniatures, looked so awesome. I can't imagine what it takes to get these things filmed the way it was. These days, it would have been CGI jets, CGI people doing stunts, CGI explosions. No matter how good the technology gets, you can always tell that something is not 100% real. True Lies is true fun to watch every time.

You just never know what a sequel may bring to the table. At times they can exceed every expectation and give us some of the best movies in history. The Godfather 2, National Lampoons Christmas Vacation, The Dark Knight. But other times you may get Speed 2, Cruise Control and Dumb and Dumberer. I loved True Lies. I very much wanted a sequel to be made. With the right actors and directors, it may have been even better than the first. Guess we will never know. A great, fun action movie and maybe one of the best in that category. The cast was absolutely on point, including young Eliza Dushku. It's full of incredible scenes like the truth serum scene and when he broke free and even when the skinny agent posing as a camera man popped all the terrorist. I remember seeing it in the theater and it was one of those movies where you could feel the energy and excitment in the room along with plenty of laughs. Thanks for the video Minty.

Best part of the movie was Bill Paxton lying just to get laid.

and what made that entire sequence even funnier, was that both Tom and Arnold couldn't keep a straight face. Cameron himself probably laughed his ass off as well

I have a friend whose brother works for Industrial Light and Magic. You mentioned the Abyss. He worked on that movie and at the end everyone got a T-shirt that said Life’s Abyss and then you dive”. Also, and as far as cultural insensitivity, goes, if you’re talking about the terrorist, it seems like that’s spot on to me. Not many Welsh people aren’t out there blowing things up.

I was really glad that number one was the fact that it is a remake of the original French version. The star is a french actor name Theirry Lhermitte. I met him at a Club Med in Turks and Caicos. He was my dive buddy. Very nice guy and he said he liked me because I didn't know who he is....apparently he is very famous in France.

I _love_ this movie. I got made fun of a bit for being a girl who liked "cheesy" action movies. Especially Last Action Hero and Demolition Man. I knew they were good! Btw Minty, the situation there has not left my mind. I'm so sorry for beautiful Australia and I hope the recovery efforts are going well, Your friend from America.

Jamie Lee Curtis really fell from the poll during the strip tease scene. That part wasn’t acting but she kept going and it was so funny they kept it in the movie.

Interesting fact. Harry’s daughter is played by a young Eliza Dushku who a few years later would go on to play the badass dark Slayer “Faith” on Buffy the vampire slayer and Angel.

I live in South Florida, Broward county. I remember driving downtown Miami and seeing the plane hanging on the crane. A new bridge to the keywest had be completed a few years earlier and the old bridge had sections slowly dismantled. The movie blew up the older bridge. There is still a section of the bridge left, it is used for fishing.
