They dressed up one Halloween with her as She-Ra, my cousin as He-Man, and his wife as the Empress. They went to a local park that has a castle gate entrance and some decorative towers and filmed the most epic Halloween video ever. So absolutely show your kids! @@nobodyimportant2470 The Last Unicorn had a topless three-breasted Harpy that murders people, a Unicorn that transforms into a nude woman and an enchanted tree that grows massive boobs and tries to smother a guy with them. But, go to any classical art museum and just walk around. People nailed to crosses, naked ladies bound to slaughtered bulls, gladiators killing people... Cheetara's fuzzy bossoms are probably no stranger than Snarf not wearing pants in Thunderan culture.

I remember when this show initially aired in ‘85. I was hooked. Two things to look for: 1.) there is audio of the VO bloopers that’s hilarious. A2.) read ThunderCats: The Return by Wildstorm/DC. It’s about Lion-O entering the Book of Omens for more training, but is unknowingly trapped there for years. When he returns, MummRa has won. The reveals of what happened to Cheetara and WilyKit & WilyKat are very dark.

Having watched the show back in the day and as an adult with my kids I came to a conceptual understanding of the show that is deeper than most. The cartoon is actually not about alien cat people, mutants, or immortal mummy devils! It's about three powerful red stones, possibly from space or another dimension, possessing abnormal powers and functions. The first red stone is the 'Mystic Eye of Thundara' which psychically bonds to it's possessor. It will come to your hand, give you psychic visions, and project your intentions. The Sword of Omens is not The Eye of Thundara. As Panthro states in the series, he can easily create another sword but could never duplicate the Eye of Thundara. The swords power is a type of metal expanding effect which most of the Thundercats weapons or armor have and is part of the Thundarians advanced science. Cheetaras' staff, Tigra's whip, Panthro's armor, all use this same metal expanding technology. The other two red stones are embedded in the head of Mum-Ra and make him immortal, able to fly, change shape, basically cast his psychic will on others. Knowing now that the cartoon was made in Japan helps to explain the extraordinary level of quality in it's art and animation. I assume that Silverhawks was also created there as it is essentially a sister show to Thundercats. Having the moral lessons woven into the writing was much better than the cheesy PSA end spots in cartoons like He-Man and GI Joe. My favorite lesson from a Thundercats episode was from when Lion-O was speaking with Willa about who would win in a battle between him and Hachiman. Lion-O said that Hachiman would win because of his experience. Willa said that Hachiman believed that Lion-O would win due to his youthful speed and dexterity. Lion-O answered the query with a powerful statement that brought me to tears. "The truth is. Nobody wins in a duel!"

Like most of the cartoons of those days, the openings had killer art, shading and smooth action. Then the actual show was not even close. I still watched but I was always disappointed! Liked the stories but always wished they had the budgets to do the actual shows as well as the openings! Cheers Minty!

One of my all-time Favorites! I was Lion-O at my 4th grade Halloween Party! 😆😆 My other favorites watching were ScoobyDoo, Voltron, and Transformers! Lol

I had my figurines of the Thundercats for sure. I was 10 in 86' and it was a great time in my childhood.

As an 80s baby, we saw Thundercats live! My younger brother is almost 40, and still terrified. 😂😂😂

The weirdest thing about Thundercats is how 3rd earth is actually earth and mumra, the enemy is a human. So technically we rooted against ourselves throughout the show! 😊

Fo decades, the vintage toy community wanted a collectors guide to this toy line. Earlier this year, Hall of Omens was released, yeah!! This was big in our hobby.

I'm 32 years old and honestly I don't remember Thundercats as a kid. I may have seen an episode here and there but I never start from scratch. Plus I wasn't born until the 1990s. But I do love hearing from you Minty you're awesome. 🦁

When I was a kid there is one crossover I've been wishing for, the SilverHawks crossover and the TigerSharks crossover.

I loved this episode, Minty. Awesome. Also I wanted to say that I did see the thundercats live show when I was 8. From what I can remember, yummy and pokey for some reason went into their tv and that's where they met the the thundercats including mum-ra. Also I know there other shows being seen but the only other ones I can think of were the silver hawks. I remember seeing copper kid on cables doing flips and going across the stage with quicksilver. Oh and I also saw mum-ra falling into the audience. The characters were all on skates. And they were chasing mum-ra with a mirror.

Another great trip down memory lane. Honestly, who didn't just have a big box of action figures and make their own Thundercats, He-Man, Silverhawks, TMNT, GI-Joe crossovers?

I remember when it first aired in my area. they had it come on at 7:30 or 8:00pm which was weird on its own, but then every airing after, they only ran the same episode. it was never a part of my Saturday morning cartoons on the big 3 ABC NBC and CBS. those were the only channels we could get then besides the public station. as I recall they aired Thundercat's either before or after the Disney show. that was so weird they did that, especially now with hindsight. I downloaded the Thundercat's original episodes and its one of the few that was good enough to entertain me even now. it doesn't come off cheesy and stupid like so many others I've tried to watch again.

At 46, this was something out of my childhood. Unfortunately, the 2011 reboot was not properly marketed and very few people knew about it
