This gave me a cross between goosepimples and tears! A stellar rendition and one I'm sure Pat Metheny & Lyle Mays would approve of! A ++++

I agree!!!!!! from the album "Still Life......Talking" 1987, I was 15 and a classmate told me to listen to that album. Which began my love affair with The Pat Metheny Group!!!!!!!! The core will always be to me....Metheny, Mays, Rodby & Wertico. (of course Danny Gottlieb) who was the drummer that was there first........lol.

Metheny's ultimate epic. Changed the way I perceived jazz music and jazz guitar forever.

Dianne Reeves' performance of Minuano with the Frankfurt Radio Big Band is absolutely mesmerizing. Her vocals are incredibly powerful and emotive, perfectly complementing the smooth jazz instrumentation. This reupload of the video is a true gem - a must-watch for any jazz enthusiast.

Soon after Still Life (talking) was released, I took the CD to Kauai to play in the rental car, and this song in particular evokes the island for me. It was a simpler time. This version is beautiful too, but I miss the "O, ella" from the vocalist in the opening.

This arrangement opens the heart of every Metheny fan, it brings back the great musicality and power of the unique PMG during the late eighties. Nevertheless , I miss the real marimbas. Thank You HR Bigband for this wonderful performance! ❤

Everybody can have their own arrangement of a song. That’s what makes music unique and their own sound. My humble opinion is this isn’t as good as PMG. ( but who is?)
@nicholasfrazier36367 күн бұрын
The vocals in the original were in support of the piece, not the emphasis. I prefer that. Kurt Elling's version inspires a similar thought.
@arianluna454810 күн бұрын
I like the ORIGINAL version. Pedro Aznar owns this tune. No one else in the world can make it sound so haunting and beautiful like he did. They should just leave it alone.
@rozaygh8 күн бұрын
You can like the original. But why would you ask that they leave it alone. You don't. It's music

I love the original as well, but I think this is one of the more interesting takes I've seen of this song
@ciroguido2 күн бұрын
It’s not Pedro Aznar in the original … voices on that tune are from Mark Ledford and David Blamires

The intro…Is that sound like a mistic Wind?... NO. Good musicians, bad direction. The same with the rest.
