Those pieces of Pat and Lyle are timeless classics of jazz. Still sounding fresh. And Blamires was part of that.

David Blamires is one of the musicians who played into the Pat Metheney Group. This piece of music was inspired by the great love of Pedro Aznar for the Argentinean music. I remember an ineviiew where he stated that when he started playing with Pst Metheney, Pat and Lyle fekt the need to compose, to write new music according to the new line up. Abd ad Pedro Aznar listened a lit in those day Argentinean fplk music, Pat and Lyle wrote " Minuano" which id an air if chacarera to be more atuned with Pedro Aznar' s origins.I think that " Minuana" will become a tonal key in the future of an Argentinean ascended master in terms of spirituality and metaphysical issues. There is another flamish version of this piece of music by Sabtiago Lara, a Spanish guitar player.

I don't believe this pieces was directly inspired by Pedro Aznar or Argentinian music. The music Pat wrote after Pedro joined the group came in 1983, and it's music you can hear on the First Circle album. Pedro had left the group by the time Pat wrote this tune in 1986. David Blamires was hired in 1986 to continue Pedro's legacy, so David's talents may have been partially an inspiration. I'm sure Blamires was in Lyle's mind when he added the beautiful vocal intro to the tune. Pat was mainly inspired by Brazilian music when he wrote this tune, and said that he wrote this tune through playing his guitar like a Brazilian cavaquinho.

I'm trying to found someone who knows about "O Tempo e o Vento" The Wind and the Time". A master piece of Brazilian literature. The Minuano is a south pole cold wind that passes through the south of Brazil and have a great cultural importance to our people. And the song bring this feelings. I'm an idiot that found the Pat's work just today. I'm reading his website but my English isn't good and the translator doesn't work well... But I will get there

Pat Metheny orchestrations for the North Metropole Orchestra were by Vincent Mendoza (I think). It's a high energy piece, perfect for a finale with Metheny pentatonic melodies & Mays' harmonisation & multi-movement composing. The multi-mov't work offers every section of the orchestra a role and prominence.

Bellissima orchestarazione di un brano dei mitici Metheny/Mays. Poi vedere dei giovani suonare il controfagotto e il corno inglese mi fa dire che ce la faremo

Excellent rendition of a very complex composition by PMG. The vocals could be a bit more ethereal (like the original), but overall it's great!
Listen to the original recording with David Blamires on Still Life (Talking). He's the man for this tune, though Pedro did a fantastic job with it later.
