Thanks, man! It went in a different direction than I originally intended. The more I toyed with it, the more Alice In Chains vocal harmonies and guitar licks seeped in. Have always loved the simplicity of the song's riffs and structure.

I actually think it works BETTER than the symphonic version. The stuff Michael Kamen added to the symphony album always felt aesthetically misaligned IMO.

@vikingguitar the cool thing about the old DVD was you could switch the audio and take the symphony out of the mix, or even the band out of the mix if you wanted. I think it was subtractive, so they didn't do separate mixes for each variant, but it was still cool to hear it that way. Still dumb that this song has only been played live with the symphony almost 25 years ago. I think it would rip live these days.

epic cover! vocals on mega beardo always add extra appeal to your music catalogue, unmega and the belmonts are truly wonderful albums. I think the Metallica 90s style suits you very well and this cover feels very natural coming from you, like it's something you've played your whole life.

God, it's a legit travesty that they never recorded -Human and No Leaf Clover in the studio during their late-90s era. I don't think modern Metallica could really capture what I enjoyed so much about them as a young'n. Anyway, being deadly honest, this version blows either possible recording out of the water.

For real. They still play Clover live often, but they left -Human in the dust for some reason. That song could have sounded huge in a studio with Bob Rock. Fingers crossed that they have at least a demo in a vault somewhere, but it seemed like they were writing Human right up into the symphony shows. I think fans assumed they would record them properly and put them on the next record following S&M, but obviously those sessions got derailed. Once they start digging into their vaults for the deluxe editions of either S&M or St Anger, it's gonna be real interesting what they release.

One of the most underrated Metallica songs ever. Pretty sure they’ve only played it once, which obviously was the debut at S&M. I honestly can’t think of another time they’ve played it live.
