Minute Maid Park Roof Opening

Yeah, it takes a long time. They used to open after the sun went down every night during the game but now MLB says if the game starts with it closed the it has to remain closed until games over. It so hot down here in the summer, they usually never have the roof open at game start

I witnessed it opening shortly after it was built. It has always been closed when I have gone since except the last time a couple of weeks ago it was open the whole game for the fireworks afterwards. Never the less gotta love the ingenuity of a retractable roof stadium.

I went to Houston when I was a kid and got to watch the Astros play the Padres in 2000 I believe. And then the Hella mega tour last July. Great memories in Houston for me. Not to mention Astroworld

When the roof opens at Chase Field it has a much bigger effect, is more dramatic, faster, and you can actually tell its moving. Plus we have awesome music to go along with it.

That's because the roofs at Rogers Centre and at Minute Maid Park are more than just sun shades. Toronto and Houston have some heavy-duty weather that has to be dealt with. Their roofs are much heavier.

Opening times aren't the whole story. The roofs are of very different configurations. The "roof" at Minute Maid Park includes the entire west wall of the stadium.

Your roof is much smaller. As you can see, the roof at Minute Maid Park includes the entire west wall of the stadium. It's in three parts that all fold up on the north side of the building.
