I was a Security Policeman assigned to the 44th MSS and worked Delta as a Flight Security Controller in 1981. My daughter and I drove past on I-90 and she asked me if I wanted to stop and check it out and I said "no thanks. I saw enough when I worked there."

Missile Launch Officer and every job associated with this entire business was very hard and not a lot of fun. Best day there was when I saw that place in my rear view mirror. But it was worth the effort in the long run. Way too much stress (all negative stress BTW).

How was it “very hard”? Sitting around and doing nothing 99% of the time. Only stressful thing is if potential of attack which I assume was rare.

Wow. Very cool. Thanks for posting. It brings back a lot of memories for me. I worked most of the Launch Control Facilities in Missouri area in the 1983 and 1984 time period. This South Dakota LCF brings back some memories. I too was a U.S. Park Ranger after retiring from the Air Force after 22 years as a Security Policeman.. Wishing I had that sort of duty as a Park Ranger instead of working the gate at Glacier National Park.
