Today starts a new video series where we deep dive the full gear loadout for the modern minutemen. From your main fighting rifle to body armor and flashlights and boots we take a look at it all over the course of this series.

The original Minuteman were members of the original Colonial Militias. An Elite force within the larger force of the Militias. They were the First Line of Defense for their community. They were ready to roll within minutes, and would meet and engage the foe while the regular militia organized and matched to the AO. Average age was 25 and physical strength was a requirement. They carried very little with them. Musket, 20 Paper Cartridges, a side sword and/or knife, 5 extra Flints, a canteen and a bedroll. Bread, cheese and sausage wrapped in linen in their pockets, because they didn't carry a haversack like the militia. Once the War for Independence started, the Minuteman fade from the historical record, as they were absorbed back into the Militias. So my questions now is we're blurring lines from what the Minutemen were back then, to what we'll face in the inevitable conflict to come. The gear alone, is a heck of a lot more than the Minuteman of yore. Looking forward to your new series.

My point though is just Night Vision alone will set one back $2K-3k, and that's just not in the cards for someone on a barely above poverty level fixed retiree income. I also understand and accept that with no prior Military Training, the best spot would be to set my butt on a point to defend/ambush. At 65, trying to turn myself into an operator is a complete waste of effort. Real Operators eat, sleep and breathe their training 24/7, 365 days a year. LARPing a weekend or four a month, is in no way the same level of training the real pros get, and we're kidding ourselves not to recognize this. The only real chance we have of winning against our own or a foreign military (NATO), operating with the blessing of a Tyrannical Government, will be by Guerilla Warfare. Hit and Run, inflicting casualties and using attrition and fear to destroy the morale. When our foes can't move for fear of being whittled down every time they step out of their compound, we'll know we're on the right track. That means taking out not only troops, but commanders, political tyrants, and civilian collaborators/traitors.

@@ClarenceCochran-ne7du not gonna lie dude, that sounds like a terribly messy ordeal. How would you suppose armored vehicles, thermals, and NODs are dealt with? If anything, attrition would be against guerilla fighters, since the military has a world class logistics system behind it.

@@perpetualconfusion5885 any logistics system can be broken. Not saying it won't be messy, but the Irish did it in 21, the VietCong did it in the 60s and 70s. Afghanistan took on and out a military that didn't worry about ROE, and the Taliban are back in control after Biden's cowardly withdrawal. When troops are afraid to leave their compound except en force, who's winning?

Well. Once we got past the intro, it didn't take long to shame non-Gucci gear, non-Operator training, and everyday mental & personal fitness. Seems like all of that is *fully* part of being today's Minuteman. Much rather have a guy who knows how to run his Mosin over one who's carrying too much extra kit. Not impressed with this take at all.

You make a good point. I would like to see an "insurgent" style loadout. That would be more in keeping with the strategic application of a civilian light infantry that is part of the community and lives amongst the population.

So far I'm seeing him target a certain concept of "SHTF" and that does not match "everyone's" concept of SHTF. In theory, I totally agree on the "guy with a Mosin who knows how to use it" comment. I, personally, have not met many people who "own a Mosin and know how to use it." I know 1 guy who knows how to run a Mosin decent and has exactly zero understanding of fighting. Zero interest too. Taking Ukraine as an example, you have conventional forces and unconventional forces. What I hear, he is focused on more "what is needed for conventional forces." And based on your comment, I assume you are more interested in unconventional actions in a Ukraine situation? So y'all may be having 2 different conversations. Now, if your real issue is "he trashed PSA and I LIKE PSA!" Well, he is correct, quality gear is more reliable and more durable. My own experience bears this out, and the experience of those I respect has also born this out. But I think there is a bigger issue. In theory, can I get work done with cheap gear? Yes. If you see a guy who opted for the $10 TQ rather than the $30 TQ, what do you think the odds are he actually invested in knowledge or training? What are the odds his "training" is he watched a YT video once? And what are the odds he can perform life saving action under stress? On paper, it's a good argument to say "spending $X doesn't make you an operator." And that is a correct argument. On the other hand, people tend to group into populations. And the population who knows how to run their gear and actually uses their gear tends to invest in good gear. This is not "100% True." There are guys who have less expensive stuff, but it's super functional. So if you see a group of 100 guys, you can group them by quality and quantity of gear and mostly be grouped by skill level. It's not perfect. But I suspect that is where Uncle Freedom is coming from.

@woodsghost9088 you bring up some good points. My take is that while the vast majority of these types of videos revolve around "stuff to buy" they are entirely focused upon the tactical element and completely ignore the strategic and logistic realities. First, civilians cannot, nor should they equip themselves like the US military. They simply do not have the logistical depth to fight as well supplied light infantry. Another factor is weight. In 2018 the army conducted a study that concluded that nearly 30% of all combat casualties were muscular/skeletal in nature. In short troops were getting injured because they were carrying 100+ pounds of "mission essential" gear. From the time of the Romans, up until Vietnam the rule of thumb for a combat load was 30 lbs, not exceed 1/4th of your body weight. The American military mostly gets around this by exyensive use of vehicles... something I do not see as likely in a minuteman scenario. Second, minutemen are defenders of home and community, not an expeditionary force. We will continue to live amongst those we are defending. This creates an entirely different combat rhythm than an expeditionary force. I call it the insurgent strategy because those that I fought against picked their times to attack around meals, naps, and prayer calls. They dictated the time of the intial engagement because they were part of the population. They understood our capabilities and didn't try to match our strengths. Typically all they had was ammo, water, and maybe a radio. They were dressed in civilian clothes used civilian vehicles. They didn't need GPS, NODs, encryted comms, or a whole host of other expensive and heavy equipment because they fought within their abilities. As far as Mosins go... I really have no opinion on that. I favor a BCM upper on an M4E1 lower, but any quality rifle that you have trained on and can use is appropriate in my opinion. Skills are your best and lightest preps! @@oldsalt8805 I'm mostly with you. Except research on civilians shows they do effectively take on main line units from time to time in conventional war. But it's not a regular occurrence. So it's notable when it happens. It's "a suprise." Right with you 100% on the rest of it. My opinion, seperate from the vid, is Civ can (and does, when armed) take on criminal elements in unconventional war. From the Mohawks/Iroquois/Black Feet of 150 years ago, to the cartels and anti-freedom guerillas of today, "heavily armed, mobile Civ" have a place. And I think "Civ mobility" looks like F150s and Chevy 1500s, not M113s. So I think "mobile forces" is a thing in the Civ context. You may agree or disagree. But excellent response and thank you for sharing your experience and thoughts.

@@woodsghost9088 you are absolutely correct. There is a proven historical use for paramilitaries. They are definitely cost effective, especially when used as disposable assets, such as the cartels or the Mahdi Army. When I think of a minuteman I envision a local defense force. In my community that is comprised of volunteers with the Sheriff's posse, police auxiliary, CERT, volunteer fire department, and our local ham radio club. In an emergency our primary role would to pull guard duty and serve as a augment force to our LEOs. For the cost of a single pair of NODs we can buy several small generators and flood lights to guard our precious assets such as gas stations, groceries, and pharmacies... all soft targets in civil unrest. Like you said, we will use civilian vehicles, we are not patrolling, a simple plate carrier and hesco L210 plates serve our needs. For radios our local hams program and maintain cheap Baofeng radios that can be handed out as needed. Our IFAKs and trauma kits have been put together with guidance of our EMTs and fire department and every volunteer takes and annual CPR and stop the bleed class. My primary thesis is that much of the gear that is promoted in these videos (sorry @unclefreedom213) is counter productive and possibly even a detriment in an actual civilian minuteman scenario. @@justa3v619 yep and now it's 100% too late, with drone swarms, Direct energy weapons on satellites, and half the population so dumb down with psychological weapons like transgenderism, it's over, we will never see another conservative patriot President again, as the electronic voting will ensure that there is never an honest election again.

Minuteman describes being ready for any situation that is most applicable to each individual person. Could be living in bear country and just need to be ready for that or just have things ready in order to get home from a break down. It’s not just action movie crap that doesn’t happen in real life

Lower quality means "higher chance of poor metallurgy, poor machining tolerances, poor heat treatment, or poor assembly." Nothing is ever "100% guaranteed." If you have a rifle you have put 10,000 rounds through in different climates and weather and it has been fine, then don't worry about it. Or if you own a set of armorer guages and your rifle passes all the checks, then it is good to go. If you need more detail, let me know. Edit: if the chance of a bad rifle was .1%, I would not worry about it. But the statistics I've heard is "serious problems show up in over 10% of rifles." And my personal experience is that is accurate. The rate of problems is over 10%. But I can't give a more precise answer than that. You just have to run your rifles and see if they stand up or fall short.

I think a thigh holster is the best for your pistol but that’s my opinion and what works for me I have no military experience or professional training but it’s what works best for you because it’s your setup and you have to be effective

Looks like some good combat loadout info coming, but what I’m wondering is exactly WHAT we are gearing up FOR? Who is attacking what, and why? Be ‘ready in a minute’ to go oust Antifa from your neighborhood, or battle our own tyrannical Gov.? The comms issue really gets me. Grand Thumb makes me laugh with the helmet headset. Just WHO are you gonna talk to? If it’s the militia group you belong to, it’s been infiltrated by the FBI, and monitored by the alphabet agencies 100%. The same folks that will jam all frequencies available to you as a civvie. And phones, and laptops. Tech reliance is doom. Still gonna watch the series though.

I think the lbe or plce are better off then the chest rigs cause when it come down to it the standard "3 mag" chest rig is not good enough for sustainment
