Slavic people played amazing football. It's hard to explain in words. Their elegance and athleticism was next level. USSR (esp. defenders and goalies), Poland and Yugoslavia. I used to wait for days for their matches on Saturday and Sunday. Too bad that Red Star Belgrade got doomed after the PM of Yugoslavia passed away. He was a great man who held the country together. Respect and best wishes from India (from a crazy football captain)

There have only been two Eastern European clubs in football history to win the European Champion Clubs' Cup: Steaua București in 1986 and Red Star Belgrade in 1991. Interestingly, no goals were scored in both final matches and the winners had to be decided in penalty shoot-outs. Miodrag Belodedici played in both winning teams at that time 👍. It's good that Barbosa also remembers some less popular players from Eastern Europe 😄.

Yeah Belodedici is one of the most gifted defender of all time, but doesn't get the recognition he deserves these days compared to Maldini, Baresi or Beckenbauer and more modern well known world class defenders because he's eastern european.

@@justinthedragon1373 His family is of serbian descent, born in a romanian village near the serbo-romanian border in which pretty much everybody spoke serbian. He himself spoke only serbian until the fifth grade of elementary school. So it's not that simple to categorize him. It depends more on how he himself feels about his ethnicity.
